You need to lower the soil timing to use it for general work

On the sandy beach i did this morning i set the machine at 10 pulse delay, between 7 and 8 ground balance , all targets, freq at 1'clock , gain at 6, GEB off. But i still got a lot of noise when i moved from side to side.

Thats much better than most thats 2 good days working, but dont forget that is a new machine
compared to some and the longer it is on the market the more improvements they will make.

Was just reading this thread, I'm from over the pond and have used the Deus for 2 years now. For us in the UK on ploughed land with little trash it is a great machine, the finds rate in my club between the ET & Deus is about the same, both great machines.

We are looking for old English hammered silver coins and the Deus loves them. I've had 36 in 2 years.

I use it on the beach in wet sand with the big coil and it is very stable. It's a long time since I used a Minelab but I do like the look of the new CTX after watching some vids. If I were in the states I would probably think about a different machine depending on where I was searching.

Cheers

Fred

I think the biggest mistake people make with machines (especially new) is not understanding how they work, and not excepting that when you buy a new machine there is going to be a long learning curve. I have had my XP GMP now for 4 years and I am still finding new things about it. People pay way to much attention to screeens and target id's, when all you need to know is what the machine tells you via the headphones. There are always times when good targets, are going to fall into the brackets of bad targets, such as coke and iron, this is when you have to make the choice of to dig, or not to dig. This brings up the age old adage of detecting...if in doubt dig it out, how long does it take, and you never know, it just might be your best find.
