It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Goldigger 1950, I'm glad I'm not the only one between 50 and 60 that noticed a distinct absence in choices.

I'm 54, but my coworkers thing I'm a dinosaur and my wife wonders if I'll ever grow up.

Go Up Go Down

Im 71 and make no bones about it.  In 1964 I bought a MinRad supposedly geophysical instrument to find gold that was made by a Ductchman in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.  Actually it was a BFO with three coils but could not handle the iron stone or heavy mineralisation in Australia.  So it got used a lot on the beach finding coins and pesky ring pulls hehehe.
Then I got a whites Gold master but only used that on the beach too as well as around old deserted homes and inside pubs being demolished. A few years later I got a Fisher but changed it for a Garret ADS master hunter. This is the machine I converted to get into the water in 1980 with.  I had already written several articles in G & T but did not write anything about water detecting till 84 because I still had it all to myself and wanted to perfect recovery tecniques.
With the introduction of the Aquasport PI I decided to finally start writing in earnest and the rest is history. I had always been interested in King Arthur and like Hienrich Schlieman who found Troy after reading Homer I wanted to find King Arthur and since I got involved achieved that and more.  Now theres only one more site that I want to go over and this is a burial mound of a very important Ancient British King CASWALLON. The legend goes and it is documented that he was buried wearing a Yellow shirt meaning Gold.
In the British Museum there is a similar shirt that was found in North Wales (Britain)  I have used and tested so many detectors that I have forgotten many of them but to me Treasure Hunting has been an means of having an adventure every day of my life.
Something very few could of experienced If I were to live my life again I would do exactly the same as before but keep my information to myself.  Regrets?  yes one trusting the lying Director of Minelab who said he wouldnt ask for Tariffs to be introduced on imported detectors when he introduced the Excalibur. Because that lying basket made everyone pay more for not only every imported machine he was able to increase the price and profit on his locally made magic wand.  Greed is a terrible thing.
