Hello Hardluck
My interest in Daimond just keeps increasing day by day. Please do tell me what you know. Ive read a few stories of discoveries of Daimonds and other Gems here in NZ
I did say earlier i wouldnt be too surprised if some were found here in NZ.
Some Sad news, I just found out today Dons brother passed away about a month ago. I was hoping to ask him more about Dons finds in NT.

OK Hardluck,
ill look forward to reading your daimonds in New Zealand post.
My grand parents came from Hikitika on the west coast, at one time the gold prospecters capitol of NZ. My popas dad even found a gold mine, only to lose it again. Now thats a classic treasure storie Wink

So its up to me to go and find it or another find! My Nanas parents had a jewlery store in Hoki. Someone came in with some greenstone covered in small ruby's. Very popular stuff i was told. Its a great scenic place the West coast of the South Island full of history, friendly poeple and gold for he that can find it.

Hello Goldnboy

If I was in your part of the world I'd would be reworking those old alluvial gold fields and detect old prospectors and Chinese camps with good metal detector. The must be a few small stashes hidden around these old gold fields.

The lost mine you mentioned sounds interesting. Reworking old mine tailings can bear fruit.

hello Hardluck

Most of the Alluvial is in the south island. Its got lots of good scope there for MDing.
Lots of mines in the Coromandel with a bit of alluvial and some float... I think this area has good potential and will try to get down there sometime soon.
The lost mine in the south Island, was actually a gold reef that was never mined and got covered by a slip!

Thats one i rearly have to do some more homework on. You would probly have it narrowed down in a couple of days.
Ive been meaning to catch up with some family to se what they can remember of this story.
I know of another story in another part of the south island,Near Nelson. Its of an alluvial field that hasnt been worked! Will post more info later
One old timer i know grew up in this area Cool
