Well I was wondering how your metal detectors react with the high mineralised red soil because it is the same as in OZ
Thats if the red soil is mineralised, and if you ground balance in these soils can you still find things with VLF machines
and what sort of depth do you get in these hot grounds?

At times we do have problems with mineralization.... it drives us mad, but I have learnt to listen for different sounds in this type of ground.... You also find mineral ground causes the detector to sound very iffy.... so you just tend to dig the more solid sounds.... But yes it can be a problem..... I have not battled too much though as mostly the ground is fine  Great

I do believe that the depth is not as great in this type of soil.... I have never really looked at the display during detecting on this type of ground.... But I am sure it will read, but not sure what it would show.... I must check the next time I have this problem,,,,, I have found that the Garrett Ace 250, is pretty good in this type of ground, but the Tesoro Silver Sabre did not like it.... I used to battle with that detector with mineralization..... I used to just move on till I got past that type of ground.....

Thanks for that, the reason i ask is because i was on a web site the other day and they said my machines can handle all the
gold sites in Australia and South Africa has very simular groud and soils, So the ground conditions are very much alike.
It would be good if you could make a mentle note next time you go out and see the depths and what changes you have to make
as most of my soils are moderitely strong on a scale of 0 to 100 mine are between 56 to 67,
