I have not been out for a while Peter i promise I will do a blogg this weekend...promise!
You could just buy a cheap second hand unit when you are there or you might find one for hire...just lookin the local "smalls".
Funny thing happened to me the other night though, I was on the beach looking for someones wedding ring . My mate was with me and we had just started the search when I came across these 2 young ladies, really hot young ladies I tell you. All bikini clad and then suddenly their dog attacked me...there I was waving my cz 21 at the animal and it's trying to bite me barking and going mad....anyway I said to them "excuse me is this your dog" and they just ignored me so I said again excuse me....and the one gets up and says "Bella come here" I can basically feel the dogs breath on my bare legs  so I lost it and said "Put your f@$#@$# dog on a lead what the hell is the matter with you?" She says "oh why don't you go get a real job?" lol!
Anyways the dog attacked again a few minutes later and I had no choice I whacked it on the nose with the coil and told the girls that if the dog bit me I was going to ram my digger down it's throat and then they left.
So I have decided that I need a can of mace....gotta carry mace. Mace would have stopped it where it started.
But what I really don't grasp is that they sat there watching and just ignored me, what on earth is wrong with some people? Just goes to show...don't judge a book by it's cover.

Yeah I also had a stupid dog that went for me.... I just ended up putting my boot into it's mouth.... I feel sorry for the animals as like you say, their owners do not care for them.....

I have already been told that I can borrow a detector in England.... so that will not be a problem  Great Looking forward to a new blog from you..... Don't forget to put the gold coin photos in the blog..... I know that you have them with my face on them  Hello

Man I would not have put up with that kind of S#@T I'm working on a dog deterrent very simple really it sends out a very hight frequency only audible to dog and hurts the hell out of their ears on second thoughts I think that I should make one for humans too.
I actually thought of having an HV coil on my detector  Grin no joke mate I really did think of doing that. Mace you're too kind sir Magnum sounds more like it to me  Grin .

I was thinking more in the line of something like a car remote but the key chain sounds good. I'm looking for the transducers but so far no luck in finding them. (Help)

Unfortunately, when it comes to audio or near audio frequencies, powerful devices mean large devices. Anything with enough power to hurt a dog's ear would be much bigger than a key chain. What you end up with will probably look more like a blunderbuss of days gone by.

Angry Well that dose not sound good  Grin the thing is that it does not have to work from far it's a bit like a stun gun any how I will see if there are some designs on the net that I could modify or possibly just use as is but thanks for the tip GD it's always welcomed coming from you.

Xavier, the sonar (ultrasonic) transducer on a submarine is about the size of a small car. To aim a sonic blast at a dog would take a highly specialized transducer that would have substantial mass. You won't be able to miniaturize it unfortunately. Remember those bat listening devices? Those are the smallest of the ultrasonic transducers. The ones for use on a small boat are about the size of a grapefruit and are used for keeping barnacles from growing. The ones used for fishing are quite small but high power is not needed for those.
