Xavier, I just read some of the info on Wiki and their view is different again, Which one it closer to the truth, the facts and figures on Wiki seem to be all over the place, They said the Zulus bought along 36,000, can you imagine what that would look like coming towards you, What a Great Part of History, It must of been terrifying at the Time,

thanks Mate,,  AU

I tell you the story that I learned at school has nothing to do with what I've found on the internet  Angry now I'm wondering who's telling the truth?

Well you should believe what you learnt in school, don't forget the internet gets  polluted and can be edited along with the fact it was written by people who were never there or related to the people who fought there, I don't think the people who taught you would be wrong,

It's too bad the good old Peter don't visit us anymore, he's very good with the south African history.

how did your club go?, i thought about starting one here, but soon realised that they attract the wrong sort mostly, at least in the uk anyway, it would be nice to have clubs like the states.
but here someone starts a club and as soon as they get 15 members close admissions then its dead mens shoes to get in, add to that the treasure hunters, i mean that in the british sense, what you want are metal detectorists, what you get are thieving nighthawking treasure hunters, some wont like me saying that but its true.
nighthawking is a real problem here so much so its damaging the hobby, the old boys claim its young people buying off ebay and going where they like without permission, but on closer inspection its more than that, so for me i leave clubs alone, and keep my permissions and my own land to my self.
as a side note does'nt sa have daft laws about picking up gold?, if so how is detecting any different?, all gold here older than victorian is mostly being declared treasure, most of the interesting silver too, which is one of the reasons a lot dont report finds to the PAS.

That's a good idea and do tell him to pop by and show us some of his finds.

Hi Sinclairuser

Gold and Diamonds are a no no situation in SA but they are only protecting the raw material, so if you find a gold coin no problem and the same goes for cut diamonds.

And he has a good knowledge of the South African history so it would be good to have him back on here.
