The Basket weave coil is similar to that radio you have that I made,,,, they work brilliantly in radio's,,, not sure about detectors though :-)

TX is the outer coil inner coil RX and in the middle is the bucking coil. I'm now working on an idea to be able to remove the bucking coil all together, I'm hoping that by doing it that way I will be able to increase detection depth. The next coil that I will make will have the TX on the inside and RX on out side but directly next to TX (I will post once build). I made a calculator for the basket coil and it's surprisingly quite accurate.  Peter the Eddy current is a frequency so no reason for it not to work (And it dose) but I will have to fine tune it and find a way to better wind it.
