mmmm Xavier not so sure about that down here.
I can hunt inland and really run my machine hot. But at the beach I have to go way down on the sensitivity. Inland run at about 18 and coast 15 dry sand down to 4 or 5 in the damp/wet sand.
But you must understand that I have never been into the technical side of things when it comes to these machines.....I'm a operator not a scientist hehehehe!
Finds look cool. Keep at it. What is the nature of your site?

Viking you are using a VLF machine if I'm not mistaken. I have a PI machine made for the water and wet sand VLF dose not like the wet even wet gras makes it jumpy LOL but they are much better in my experience inland where you have mineralized soil that is why I'm also building a VLF machine. By the way you can use PI inland but mine was setup more for the beech (my coil is not shielded and it runs at 400hz and under 30ms)

Pgill did you see the link that I posted from the Boer war? I found a lot of Gill in there here it is again.

I cleaned the shell but there is no date not on the 303 nor on the shot gun shell the place that I do testing is where I live before it became an estate it was a farm and by the way I'm still looking for their rubbish dump and no I don't own the estate LOL (wish that I did)

All the best PS will be going to the beech tomorrow weather permiting

Grin Grin you only say that because you know that you have to live here with us LOL just pulling your leg mate.
well did not go detecting today as I was working on a coil calculator (spiral coil) and I wanted to get it working (and I did) so I may go tomorrow if the weather holds up and by the looks of things I think that it will be quite a nice day to go out.

All the best
Xavier

Hey, Peter, I see you got your Ace 250. How do you like it? Has it lived up to your expectations?

Hi GD,

Yes I have got my Ace back  Wink It is a fantastic machine to have.... Although as you know, In South Africa we do not have nickels and dimes etc.... so the display does not work the way intended by Garrett.... In fact all our new currency shows up as iron.... which in the USA is generally scrap  Funny The only part of the display that shows correctly here is the Pulltab, gold, and silver.... But other stuff is also found on those areas... so it is difficult.... but I am getting the hang of it.... One thing I find is that it chews batteries..... And is intermittent when it reaches the last two bars on the battery indicator..... I am also battling but getting better at the pinpointing  Great But on a whole, I am loving this machine.
