Wow sorry, different sense of humour I suppose.

It's not humor when someone else sees it and thinks there really is an argument or flame war going on. It can mislead people quite easily.

Yes GD it was getting warm but that resistor did the trick also I found that at first I had to re-adjust the machine (threshold and power)  now with the same resistance and inductance all I have to do is bring down a bit the threshold form 8 to about 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 I could do it in such a way that I wont even have to re-adjust the threshold but what for would it even be worth the effort?

Well today you guys can have a good laugh on me. I went to the beech thinking that all our tourist friends would have left me something nice to find WELL let me tell you what I found a fishing hook and it got stuck in my finger  Cry  ouch any how after getting it out I found a bottle top then I had a great signal and dug a hole 400mm deep only to find that it was a piece of steel from an old foundation or something like that  I did not even find a sinker today mind you that at 06h00 it was hight tide so I will hit it again at 13h00 low tide. Any how I had a man come up to me and he wants me to build him one then another but this guy was telling me that he lost his wifes wedding ring (  Grin I'm glad that I'm not him ) and he wants me to go looking for it. So all in all I had a great morning now that I think about it LOL

Pgill I doubt that very much unless you used bad language or you were offensive but then you would have also been warned or muted.
Any how I hope that you had a good laugh about my fishing hook. I will start with your probe setup tomorrow I'm just looking for a piece of ferrite. Ho yes if you like I can build an LC meter for you I think that I should have all the parts for one that way you will be able to measure inductance and capacitance.

All the best to you

Umm, not offensive, was just making peace with GD  Great

I did have a good laugh as it reminded me of my childhood, I cast my rod and the hook went straight into my finger.... I was about 9 years old.... I walked over to show my eldest brother who politely fainted on me at the sight of the hook through my finger  Funny so much for big brother support  Amen

Thanks for doing that article for me, I am also hoping that GD will also do one as we can learn from each other.... An LC meter would be great if you can do one for me.... I will be very appreciative of that  Great Let me know if I owe you anything..... besides a gold coin  Grin

Peter, Here's an LCR meter that costs $21.10 including shipping to your door. No assembly required. It's hard to gather the parts together for a DIY at that price.

I deal with these guys several times per month with never a problem. The free postage is great but not as fast as the courier service they offer. Ten to fourteen days service is great from China so I use the free post for all but the most important items. The courier service reduces the time down to around 8 days.
