Hey bud, it looks like I might be getting a "Whites MXT Pro" detector, still thinking about it  Great great detector with 12" coil and can get great depth  Clapp This weekend I am going to be detecting a plowed field where hammered coins have been found, hope I get something as it has been a learning curve for me here  Shocked just not the same as SA... Keep fingers and toes crossed for me  Wink

Taking the plunge are you? think the wife going to be happy with you spending your money on a metal detector?  Grin hope that you will find some nice coins mate. I have my problem with the inductance meter sorted out AND I even have part of the coil complete (The RX part of it) will complete the TX in the morning. What I did was build a Colpitts oscillator then I made a calculator knowing the capacitance I can find the frequency that it will run at with a specific inductance so I made a coil then put it on the oscillator and connected it to the scope (Shit scope by the way) got the frequency and then agusted my inductance meter according to it all. You do follow don't you?

Of course I follow buddy, I only look stupid  Idiot why is the scope S#$% is it not working properly?

Well buddy I have taken the plunge, a new Whites MXT Pro is being delivered with all the extras like box, coil and display covers, headphones etc.... plus a finds bag, and a book on cleaning coins and artifacts  Kiss all with Pauline's blessing, in fact mostly her idea  Cheesy This is very similar to the one I used with John when I detected that field with him the other time I was in the UK.... Remember the Henry III silver cut I found  Wise These are great machines  Wink

I was supposed to go on a hunt with the club tomorrow to a hammered coin field, but it has been changed to Sunday now,,,,, Don't like detecting Sunday's as it is church day.... I may just take a chance and ask a farmer nearby if I can detect his fields  Great

Glad that you are getting your coil sorted out, you will soon have a great detector  Detecting

Hi Peter

well I completed the coil (and to the best of my ability to spec) but with out a good scope I'm at a bit of a loss I'm afraid so this one is being sold as all that it's good for is looking at wave forms but not for any decent measurement. But I will get it right eventually LOL

Good news mate this fool had the RX and TX coils inverted  Grin now it works at 98% and I can live with that so in the morning I will put it on the scope to see if I can null the coils a bit better. Cool I'll be able to go detecting soon  Kiss

Hi AU  Great all ordered and now awaiting for delivery  Cheesy It will definitely be a learning curve for me, but think I will pick it up pretty quickly  Kiss I was watching a guy giving a demo with a hammered that in relic mode, it was not picking the coin up properly, but in coin mode was very clear... seems to maybe be less depth on relic mode than on coin mode  Idea what do you make of that?Huh?

Great to see you on this topic again  Great

Thats the guy in scotland video, I have seen that and all I can say is that its either the user/machine combination,

I have never had that happen and the guy who put me on to them is a MXT master wizzard,
I have used that machine in the worst place's possible and I have always found something and they are one of the few machines that will find FINE gold chains etc. take no notice on the video,
That machine has found more GOLD than anyother machine on the market due to the fact that it can handle all types of ground and the sensitivity of it and the coils and the tracking system,
The bottom line is that as GD says the Laws of Physics dictate what can be done and what cant,, SO if it is there you will find it, and if you dont then turn the power down and give the machine a chance to see the target,

Oh yes sorry I never called you as I was not very well but all is good now,
give me a call to day and I will phone you back to save your bill

OK, AU

Thanks buddy for the info  Great I always give a new machine a good testing anyway, that way I get a good idea as to what it can and cannot do  Idea I did think it strange as the find was not deep anyway, and even a toy detector would of found it  Funny

I am going out detector-less today to a couple of farms to see if I can detect them  Great maybe I will be lucky, not sure how people will react as some tell me it is impossible, and others say they have no problems in getting permission  Shocked I do get a lot of mixed answers in this country  Idiot

I will try and remember to call you  Grin I have church this morning and out this afternoon. Don't worry about the cost of the call, my calls are free with the contract I have  Kiss
