It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You could dry out the chopped off finger and make it into a nose picker keyring  Funny Funny Funny as for your coil, well you need to go on a coil winding course as it looks like you can't even get such a simple job done  Shocked Umm, maybe I should come back to SA to teach you how to do it.... Looks like I will be detecting in the rain on Saturday  Angry but I am not going to miss out on this Roman field...

Grin Grin Man I laugh about it now but at the time I was looking to see if I still had all my fingers, I think that I did that about ten times, the thing is that it's normally me that has accidents and not the other person. P.S The lawn mower is still on the workbench.

Peter you are more than welcomed to do it for me as it seams that I have two problems, one I can't make a decent coil form and two it appears that I have two left hands (according to you any way)

Ok, went detecting today to 70 acres of field with medieval furrows  Great that is the good news, the bad news is that I found a few iron objects and that is all as all the Roman stuff was too deep for my detector. Unfortunately these fields have not been plowed for hundreds of years which would normally bring the items to the top, or shallow.... Some of the guys with the Deus machines did very well, with Roman coins and buttons etc. But it was a great day out for me, and I won 3 bottle of booze at the clubs raffle  Cheesy I think next week we are going to a plowed field again  Kiss

Hey dude

Sounds like you're having fun out there. I got the detector working actually it works great but the coil that I made is not to specs so i still have a issue to solve. The problem is my inductance meter needs to be re adjusted and I do not have the correct inductor to do the job, any way I did give it a go and I found what I believe to be some pyrite, I did take a photo of it but with the cell phone as my camera is in the pickup and I'm not in the mood to go there in the rain.

I could send you one but you would have to make your own coil.

The look on his face when you said that must have been priceless, mate! LoL

You know what I mean. Picture a blank stare, slight dribble at the corner of his mouth and a basic goldfish look overall.
