Hi Guys - I'm brand new to this site (today!) and I find it most fascinating!!

Quick question if I may to Xavier - hi there! Your last post (with the google map) queries a concentration camp in the area. Is the "pinned" point where you believe the camp to have been??\

Keep hunting!!

Tony

Hey X! I'm not proud.  Silver is silver. Like your buddy and his gold, I take it all. Here are some thin dimes I found which are not the thinnest by far.  Smiley

Hi Gambol, at least you did not hit the coins with an axe  Funny Funny Funny How did you photograph the coins as there is no shadows in the photo.... Nice  Great

Scotman1, welcome to our great topic  Great where are you staying? I am out in Westonaria.... That site that X showed on GoogleEarth is not a definite... In fact the nearest camp that I know off in that area is at Mcauvlei on the outer of Vereeniging... but it is a golf course now, and somehow do not think they would be happy us digging up their grass  Angry X's site I am not too convinced yet, we would need to ask questions first.

Problem is you don't know much

There were camps all over the place just like the block house that you see on the freeway to Vereeniging but most were demolished and the tin ones were all destroyed all that's left of them are a few photos. The British were guarding a route from Johannesburg to Vereeniging especially the rail road. Come to think of it I know where there is an old rial road bridge still standing.

You are right bud, except blockhouses are not concentration camps which is what I am talking about  Idiot do a search on the Net to see where the camps are, it will give you a good idea....

BTW, I have a phone number for a women in your area that knows the history of the area and even gives discussions  Wise she may be able to help us in this regard  Idea well at least she should be able to give us some ideas  Great

Are you really stupid or are you just acting stupid? I have never said that the block houses were part of a concentration camp I said and I quote"There were camps all over the place just like the block house" you should read the whole sentence and put on your glasses.

Grin Grin Grin I was referring to a concentration camp not just a camp. I think that having a chat with her could bring us a lot of good but perhaps we should not tell her that we do metal detecting for a while LOL

Shocked DON"T talk about cows or sheep. I have spent the whole day walking up and down this farm looking for dogs that killed six of my sheep. after some time I started to think I was John Wayne or Dirty Harry. (Must be the sun) But I will get them it's just a question of time and they'll be back and this time I'll be ready for them.  Angry Angry
