What is it and from where? Gold does not tarnish, take the dust off and the gold will shine  Kiss do I love gold  Great I am going to fix that iron tomorrow, well the electrolysis part of it  Shocked should be fun.... Want to look for a rust converter and give that a try  Wise

All rust converters have an acid in them so you could try using a pool acid then wash it off thoroughly with water and an alkaline (soap should do) dry a mediately or you will have a new rust appear.

A rust converter does not get rid of the rust, it takes it and converts it to neutral and then uses the old rust as a coating to stop further rusting.... it actually turns the rust black  Funny Funny

That's where you are wrong. Placing your object in an acid will get rid of the rust and you will have a nice clean piece of junk but by using that so called rust converter that does not convert the rust it neutralises it and with it's thin coat of PVA paint no more air can get to your piece of junk and there for it stops to rust and you now end up with a black piece of junk.

Yes and because of your high level of uric acid you now have gout and if you did pee on it you'd probably never find it again

I don't want a friggin nice shiny iron  No no! I want a nice old looking relic  Cheesy so I have used some electrolysis on it and it looks great  Kiss so keep your acid for making circuit boards  Laughing
