Hey Pgill

Perhaps when i do get my own MD i could come with you on a hunt somewhere, LittleFalls is also right across the road from me, and Kloofendaal nature reserve, if i jog my memory i know a back way in there.   Grin.  Might take me a month to get my machine though.

OH WOW!!!! i would love that, we seem to not stay too far from each other, you also have a small little metal detector, in your video,is that to pinpoint a location more accurately?  Clap, im sooo excited, maybe we dig up the paul kruger millions!!!!!  lol.... okay on a more serious note, can you reccomend any books, think i will go to a second hand book shop and try find books on boer battles fought, locations and so forth.  I do go back to work on Wednesday so im afrain i would only beable to hunt on weekends or Friday afternoons.  Your videos are great, my folks live in the UK and my mom said that twice a year there is a gathering that come and check the field behind her.  Are you allowed to take MD's on planes?  Sorry my conversation jumped around there like a flea on speed. Shocked

Hi Indibean
You can just break the detector down and pack it between your clothes etc. I have done this a few times. or hand luggage?
Books are always cool things to have on hand.So here begins another type of treasure hunt. Check for second hand books on the net and in book shops.Knowledge is power in this game hehehe!
PGill also has some e books I believe.
And so the journey begins for another "geiger geek"! Wait till you find your first keeper....you're gonna be shaking like that flea on speed Grin

Oh and by the way...the F2 that I have coming is a combo so it comes with various sized coils....nice for boer sites if you have to get into tight places or in longer grass.
Cheers

So they break up into small pieces, i could sneek them onto sites then no? Did you get my email address so you can send me a price list.  Yeah i believe there are lots of sites out here that hold things, alot of the land is taken though, I would probably also have to look at getting a kiddy one for my daughter, but i would go second hand for that.  Ive just joined Pgills site so im going to see what i can scrumage up there. Pity i dont live in the eastern cape, i know of some real hidey hole places.  Embarrassed  Sometimes finding things is just to look through all the rubbish too. One of my friends up here sells upmarket second hand clothes, like expensive dresses that have only been worn once, she was out at a client picking up some things, an oldish lady as she was moving overseas and the woman told her to just take the old box aswell, old buttons and whatever, and in that box was a ring with a 1 carrot diamond, she tried to locate the old lady again, but could never find them.  Cheesy

Be careful of sneaking onto sights....actually rather don't do it at all just find the person in charge
and get permission obviously there are the exceptions.
If we all start digging wildly all over the place they are going to shut us down for sure and we actually want them on our side...them being "Heritage, Farmer, Municipality etc"
Yip[ they break down into smaller components....you will feel like a sniper preparing for a kill hehehe!
I have the  Teknetics Delta that is great for kids. Be very careful of second hand machines I have had 2 friends that had bad experiences and ende up spending the money twice....and still endeing up with a budget machine.
When you prepare for a hunt the, very very very last lastest last thing you want is for your equipment to fail or battle like crazy with conditions....at that point you are so amped for the hunt, that failure could lead to some form of therapy or another Grin
Any howzer I'm am sure you will be on your way in no time at all and the folks here are really experienced and helpful.
Also ...not to lecture you but please be safe in the field...we don't wan't you to get hurt in any way or form. Make sure you don't just go into places alone...it's not a gender thing. I think the others will agree and I sure as hell go armed to the teeth if I am out in the bush....for what it's worth.
The nice thing with this hobby or sport ( because it is excellent exercise)is, that once you have your machine you walk out your door and start looking at the world around you in a "HOLE" different  way...if you know what I mean! Wink
Off to work I go.....oh and one more thing, I always have a detector in my car, just have to stash it in the coolest place. You never know when a pile of dirt is going to summons you.
Nice chatting....stay safe..........and legal hehehe!

As far as your daughter is concerned....the to of you can have a real blast with just one machine.
Let her swing it a little then dig some and let her carry the finds bag....a moonbag with zipper is excellent. If she gets really into it ...then look at another machine......just a thought.

Indibean,

Great to have you on my website.... I am sure you will be blessed. If you go into the website and click on Multimedia, then documents you will find some books on detecting, and very nice ones at that.... There is also an article on the "The Big Guns of the Boer War" other than that, I only have Connan Doyles Book on the Boer War, hard copy.... with maps etc... great book.

That small detector that you see in the film is called a "Probe", it just makes life easier for finding those hard to see targets..... It works 1" (25mm) from the tip of the probe only, so when it beeps, you are very close to the target.

I do have another detector, called a C-Scope... it is more of a toy than anything... but has been used to great effect.... When we go out on a hunt, daughter can use that one  Great

I am hoping for my Garrett to come back from repairs very soon, well at least this Month.

I do have a couple of Boer war sites that have given up some good stuff, including my gold coin  Wise

Xavier, sorry to hear about the delay, but hey that just means more gold coins for me  Funny When you come up, we will get together  Great
