Indibean,

the magaliesberg is a fantastic place to visit, but I think they will shoot you if you go there, unless of course you can get onto a private farm or something..... I did ask at the Blaauwberg mine as they have an old hotel, and I was very quickly told NO.... I see that you are from the Struebens valley area.... I believe that is where the gold was first found in that area.... Do you know of any place to pan for gold there?

Not even close. There are some with over 500 in the DIY and 300 in the Yamashita forums.

Keep plugging away though.

To see where you stand, go here and slide down the page to the Top Forum Topics section, just over half way down.

Actually they are the very small ones. I pulled out some that are caked in black soot like oxidation. No problem on the rocks. Maybe your rocks are hot? try on some other rocky sections. Here are a few pics of my stomping grounds, quality is "blackberry" and the lens needs a cleam me thinks!

I found Simon Morris on treasurenet site.  He sent me some information and some pictures, im going to put one up here.  I will ask him to maybe join here and put some information up. I feel a bit shoddy taking someone elses picture and putting it up.
Perhaps i will skip magalies for a start off and stick to the mountain in littlefalls, or maybe my back garden. *chortle*

Viking what about an F2 or F4 would that be a good start?

Indibean
I have some on their way. They are good machines to begin with. The thing with the cheaper ranges is that they tend to battle in highly mineralized environments and heavy trash areas.
The more expensive machines tend to have better capability, they go deeper and they have better discrimination.
That said , send me a mail and I will give you some prices and options. Teknetics have awesome little machines and they are featherlight as well.
I have a T2 and I must say that I am having a great time with it. And the depth is incredible.
My contact details are on my site and I have a blog site at

IndiBean I was having another look at what seems to be a shark tooth could you get some better pics of it for us to look at? and do you remember the location where you found it.  I know that it was a long time ago but just maybe you do.

Regards Xavier

Thanks for the info GoldDigger1950, I see we are 3rd in the list of the top 10 being viewed  Great I remember we spoke a while about it, and was just curious.....  Great

IndiBean, I know Simon.... he is always selling stuff... where it all comes from heaven knows. I have spoken to him in the past. I was also on Tnet, but found some of the guys were a bother, so do not go on there as often as i used to.... I think I have over a 1000 posts on there if I remember correctly.
