If you use a car head lamp with just enough current to make them glow Orange they look like it's fully on with a IR camera.

HOooo now I'm with you. Must try that some day. If I get a chance I'll look for the IR LED's tomorrow for Peter. I have some UV LED's that I want to place in a LED torch could make a nice tool to have around.

I'm OK with that it's just these felt fires that are controlling my life at the moment man I'd be happy if it would burn all around us and be done with it.

Fires are great for keeping warm and for cooking, oh and for clearing metal detecting sites  Great after that, hate them, do too much damage  Angry

Felt fires? is that another name for a brush fire?

if yer not sure about whether the burn is gonna enter your property dig a big trench or do a 20' (band) controlled burn around the perimiter .. prob is you need several people helping to stop small fires spreading into a huge one that eats you house   Shocked .. oh and do small patches at a time .. takes a long time but if there is a grass fire it help stop it spreading  Smiley Smiley Smiley

otherwise just hope the wind changes an makes it blow itself out  Grin Grin Grin

oh peeing on it also helps  Laughing.. but it depends on whether you can stand the heat  Shocked

Keep safe and keep a few buckets of water handy,

Lord Dracon, great to have you join us  Great what part of the UK are you from?

Bush fires / Brush fires are the same thing  Great here in South Africa and also in Australia we call them bush fires. They do a lot of damage every year, even when we make fire breakers / controlled fire breaks. When these fires start, they can be very difficult to stop. Sometimes our grass can grow to 3' - 4' high, you can imagine how easy that moves when it is dry. Even broken bottles can cause them in the sun  No no!
