Xavier,
Your old steel razor blade, a safety pin and a small piece of pencil lead are needed to set up a crystal radio. You can hand wind the coil and with a couple of dollars worth of parts, tune in the world.

Check your PM box. You have an epiphany waiting.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Oh boy, forgot about the razor blade trick.... has to be the blue blade though  Great I have built many crystal sets, for which X now has two of them.... The one being a basket weave coil radio.... Cannot seem to get the Galena here (that I know off) so have just used the diode.... Also a piece of coke works well just very hit and miss.... But I do agree, an amp at the output does work well, and also picks up the fainter signals.... Oh, and detecting is also great  Kiss

Yeah I must admit, when that sound comes through that earphone for the first time, it is an amazing experience  Great even better when it is a station from far away  Wise

If all goes to plan, I am going detecting tomorrow to a battle field from the Boer war  Great we have permission from the farmer who now owns the property, and he says it has not been detected, so  keep fingers crossed for us  Cheesy  Detecting
