Hi Pgill

At the moment I don't know when I'll be up your way but it could be as soon as Tuesday I just have a few things to tie up over here first but don't worry as soon as I'm up there I'll give you a shout.

Hi jimmyg8138 nice to hear from you again, hope that you had a nice Christmas and new year.

All the best

I did Xavier and thanks. Hope you also had a good one. I'll be going to South Carolina to do a US Civil War site in a few weeks time. I'm looking forward to this as here in NY the beach is nasty, with cold winds and it's just no fun. But I usually try to get out for an hour or so just to keep my mind on business.
Take care and Happy New Year....Jim

Hello Boys
Happy happy and all that jazz.I have been very busy lately, what with the kids still on holiday and stuff.
Hit the Strand , found a platinum ring with 5 diamonds hehehe! It was a recovery though ...damn!
Started water hunting as the water is nice and warm. At one stage I was surrounded by a school of about 30 large sting rays...really cool feeling actually! I think that my digging might have been attracting them. I couldn't get a good pic though as I was fumbling about in the waves.
It is a whole new way of hunting and it is going to take a while to get it sorted.... Definitely need a better scoop!
Hey Pgill
What coins where in the cache? I have not had time to watch the whole hunt yet.
Okay here are a few pics and I 'll be back later.

sorry about the quality but it was taken from my phone and it was a bit wet!
Ring was lost the day before and we searched but could not locate it , there where hundredes of people on the beach , so I went back at 4 the next morning and found it in like 15 min.
They where so happy ( the owners)...they gave me a couple of grand hehehe!

Hi Silki, yes hunted with the CZ, the ring was only down about 15cm...it really did scream at me though.
The rays would come about 1m from me and just watch what I was doing... awesome really awesome! Some had about 1m span.
Going back there now and will see if they are still around but I think it is an early morning patrol type thing that they do, I would say the school could be about 50 strong.
Anyway R3500 is not bad for a quick morning hunt....and the owners would not take no for an answer ...well so be it. It is a maternity ring, not a wedding ring.
Kind regards
Viking

Hi Silki,

Bookmarks seem to be the only way to work on this forum.... I also battled with it, in fact I gave up.... Even the reply notifications... sometimes I get and other times I do not... I just keep checking back.

Viking,
Those photos are fantastic... the stingrays must of been a real experience..... something you will always remember  Great
That ring would have been a real blast also..... glad you found it, for you and the people concerned. Well done on that one, and well done on the return.... you made someone smile  Clapp
The cache was all in 5c pieces, but 20 coins in all... it was great fun as they just kept coming and coming  :Smiley It is exciting to get a cache, even though it is not too valuable... R1.00 in all... but it was still a cache.... I think you will enjoy the movie as it was a great site to detect.

Hi agaiN
Lekker PGill! I found a cache of 17 old 2c pieces in a field last year.....doesn't matter about the value, it's a rush anyway!
I will watch the clip at leisure tonight.
Silki
Okay I was at the beach again and went and handed my contact details to the lifegaurds.
I was in the water again but the rays where no where in site. The lifeguards said that they noticed it as well yesterday and that it was unusual....they actually got the swimmers out of the water because there where so many.
they say that yesterday they had dolphins seals and rays and thought something must be going on. Maybe my digging was "chumming" the water Cheesy. Must say I am really happy with the CZ21
Chat later
Viking
