I like the idea of putting the mule in the back so you don't have to look at his ass.  Grin

Gambol, X would know about the back end of a cow, so mayb we can make a cow mobile  Grin Grin Grin Grin

X, the reason the coil is in that configuration is because the one side has to be twice the length on the hypotenuse and divided into the triangle, so that the ends can be 3 times the size of the left terminal of the capacitor, if you don't have that configuration, you will not get depth  Idea  hope that helps you  Great

Shocked F$%W% speak Chinese I might just understand whet the hell you're on about (But sound good any way)  Grin OK well got a bunch of stuff from the net and found out the the reason why have twice as many turns on the RX coil is that it acts as a transformer. Any way off to bed will build a new coil in the morning (Still don't know what happens to my LC circuit  Undecided  Ha what the hell if it works LOL

Increasing the coil turns increases the length of the receiver antenna. Don't forget, a coil is nothing more than a long antenna wound in a circle. You can decrease the wire size and maintain the inductance. Plug in the formulas and see. The TX coil is fewer windings because that uses less power thus saving the batteries when you put forward that pulse of energy. As always, you will have more fun experimenting than succeeding at first go.

Keep well, old buddy.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Thank you for responding O wise one  Pray but there is still one thing that gets me. If I use the same gauge wire (Most do) my inductance will go for a loop now what happens to the LC circuit? I mean I wont have the same resonant frequency now will I? According to my calculations if I use a 0.47uF capacitor and a coil measuring 210.52uH I will have a frequency of 16Khz this is all well on the TX side but now on the RX side I have a coil 1/2 the diameter of the TX and twice the turns, question is how does this work? surely the RX must match the TX or is it at a different harmonic to the TX?  Also how would I decide on what gauge wire to use?

All the best to you my friend
Xavier
