Peter, on page 198. I hope we both find gold, and soon.

Gambol, the Transkaroo railway trip is epic, with an overnight stop in Matjiesfontein.....

Hi folks
Went out Sunday morning.....found some nice stuff and a spot where I dug 41 ....yes 41 sinkers for a total weight of 4.23 kg hehe. I can hardly walk cause it was in the surf and very rough conditions. I was running in ,grabbing a few scoop fulls, checking and then getting the hell out a there before the next big set pulled through. My legs have never been this sore from exercise before hehe!
Also a small toy plane. here is a pic.
And seriously this is two hours digging on our west coast....obviously this is the fishing side. Also found a nice old buckle, some really stuffed coins and the little toy plane.

Here is a little something unexpected. I opened one of the conglomerates that I pick up from time to time . If I'm not mistaken this is one bloody old nail! I hope you can see where the square head used to be.
Only a small bit of metal is left on the inside.
Pretty cool I thought....I'll definitely do that again! The last picture is the start of another one. I clean them up with a sandblaster.....very very carefully!!!!
Well hope you enjoy the pics.

Jbaymike, pg 198 of what book  Wise is it the book that only goes to pg 197  Idea

Viking, good to hear from you again, thought that you had found all the gold and ran away  Shocked those are good finds, love that buckle  Great buckles are good fun to find. Those coins are looking pretty sad  No no!

How is business treating you ? I hope that you are doing good  Kiss

Hi Pgill
Thanks, yes I'm well.... business is still not fireworks but I'm surviving. I thought you would like that buckle , any ideas as to what type it might be? I also thought that you might enjoy that nail. From the shape I think I might just have found a real relic! As insignificant as it may be.
I hope non of the fishermen are lurking here.....might just start a "lead rush" on the west coast lol! Fight Detecting Fight Detecting Fight Detecting.
It sure would be nice to see some other peoples finds for a change.........just saying Wink :Smiley :Smiley. I can't wait for you overseas folk to get back out there.
Where is X and what ever happened to Silki ....X is probably chest deep in cheese and Silki is probably chest deep in someone's.....chest? Have they put X out to pasture permanently now? Funny

Hi Viking,

I do love the buckle, but am not 100% sure how old, or what it was from..... I do think it was a type of buckle that a strap would be adjusted to the right size by sliding this buckle down the strap (if you know what I mean)  Crazy I wonder if that square nail in not from a ship? maybe some silver coins there also  Great

As for X and Silki  Idea X is offline at the moment as all his money was eaten by his modem and he is not sure why.... so he threw the modem away and now has no internet  Grin Grin Grin Grin Anyway, those sheep and cows are keeping him very busy  Sheep Sheep Sheep Sheep Laughed my ass off
Silki, was on a few days ago, but like normal disappeared again  No no! I think he has been sent to the bush for punishment again for killing his patients  Beheading Maybe they will release him so he can answer his mail  Welcome

As for seeing all our finds, there are none as we are not detecting at this time due to the very high grass here. Also I just cannot get used to the idea of going to the park  Touch digging up their grass does not look appealing to me. I am also very busy fixing up the house to sell as we are looking at going back to my home country England. Hey then you will see lots of great photos  Kiss

Viking, getting older and all the family are in England... just a practical move mostly. Not so much the problems here as England have their own problems... But it will be better for us in the long run  Great I must admit, I will miss the good weather, but the detecting in England is fantastic  Detecting

Peter,  hope your'e going to around long enough to receive my gift.  I tried to print out postage and a customs form on the US Postal Service website, but the customs form wouldn't accept my information.  Guess I will have to go to the Post Office and do it the old-fashioned way!  Good luck with your possible move back home to England!

By the way, I go to parks and playgrounds quite often.  Just have to make sure it looks like you haven't been there when you leave.  Also playgrounds, tot lots, football and baseball fields, and school yards.  It's not as bad as it seems.  Lots of good stuff to find, and a lot of those areas are not as well-kept as you might believe because they are being used a lot of the time - not like a golf course!

Good luck and keep on swingin', guys!                              Detecting

Arfieboy,
Don't worry I will still be here for at least another 7 - 8 Months probably longer... Selling houses in this country are normally a nightmare at this time as banks are not giving the loans unless you give the house away  Idiot
Going back to England will of course be an adventure and am in most parts looking forward to it, but it will definitely not be an easy move  Shame but we do believe it to be the correct move for us for many reasons. Will miss South Africa though  Welcome
