Hi Renegade7, great to see you back again  Great I agree with you that X seems to play a lot of tennis, and I am catching all the balls  Shocked I went to his farm yesterday detecting but found nothing  No no! I think he actually took me to a part of the farm that he has already emptied...  Idiot I did get lots of fresh farm veggies though  Welcome

Well we are heading for winter so our detecting areas grass is way to long to swing the coil, so in a Month or so, we will just be using Google Earth to find new sites and I will be carrying on with my book that I am putting together about all my sites and finds from the past.

Look forward to hearing about some of your trips and finds  Great Great

Arfieboy, good to hear from you again  Great hope that you can get out detecting soon, it will be great to see some of your finds  Teach are you in Indian head coin territory? I am looking for an Indian head for my collection  Idea I have always found them to be fascinating coins  Wise

Yesterday with X on the farm, all we found was junk and a couple of bullet cases (modern) Umm, all our good sites are overgrown now and we cannot detect them.... now we wait till the new season when the grass gets burnt, then we start again  Wink

Yes, actually, I'm in Indian head penny territory.  This area was settled in the 1860's.  In fact the first find with my very first detector (a BFO unit) was an Indian head penny right out my front door.  My wife found the penny because she insisted on using the detector before I did!  I think it was the last time she ever detected.  I have found a number of them over the years around this area!

Makes me want to get out and look for more!

Arfieboy, you are lucky... I think you should be finding some good stuff in your area  Great I guess if there are Indian Heads then there must be some good silver coins also, and some great buckles  Kiss

Homie, I won't read that sign as I do not want to break the law  No no! I would love to get out and search for gold, it is just not available to the average person here in South Africa  Angry but it would be great fun though...

I have found a good number of silver coins around my area, too, Peter.  From real silver dollars tthrough practically every other silver demoniation.  Not all of the denominations, buy the more common ones.  Most have dated from thelate 1800's through the mid 1900's!  I've not found any gold coins, however.

I think Homie is right, gold would be great!  And for everyone's information, I did NOT read Homie's sign!!!!      Grin Grin         Detecting

Hi ArfieBoy, You are so lucky. I have found a gold coin, 1893 one pond (pound) Kruger, but that is a really lucky find for this country. We very rarely find any old stuff, in fact if a coin in this country reaches 1960's we are doing well.... 1800's is a lifetime dream. We do have a bit of silver, but not that much.... If you ever want to get rid of an Indian, please let me know  Great
