X, of course you would lend me yours, you like me and for no other reason  Welcome My detector btw can work in water, just not the box dude  Funny I did use it in shallow water at the coast already, must admit it was a bad day and I did not find any treasure  Wise found plenty of coins on the sand though  Clapp

Viking, wish you luck buddy.... I will be detecting with X at the farm on Sunday afternoon  Great I will post all the gold coins I find there... just don't tell him that I found them at the farm, otherwise he will want a share  Waveing

Those sun glasses look like a neat little project  Cool  thanks for the post Homefire.

Hello Viking, was it your mate that found the gold coin, congratulations. Sounds like an awesome find. I just found it hard to believe that he hadn't noticed  that he had found a gold coin?
I was thinking when he had first found it he would have noticed the weight?? Anyways hope you guys can figure out where is may have come from...

Don't worry X, I do forgive you for making my detector go mad  Kiss I am the forgiving type you know  Great but it will be nice for me to have someone to share the treasure with it gets lonely out there  Grin Grin Grin

GoldnBoy, it was Vikings friend who found that gold coin. I also do not know how he never figured out that it was gold, the only thing is our 20 cent piece is a gold color, so maybe he thought it was one of them  Thumbs Down

Hi guys
We are like 90% sure we know where it was found.....and yea I think my mate will be more careful in future. He is very much into it for the gold and diamonds and anything else is just by the way. Bad attitude to have when detecting ....but seriously that's him he wants money and that's that. Archaeological value is the last thing on his mind and he NEVER really studies and cleans up old coins.
Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
I'm going over there later, to run my detectors over that coin. I'll bring some eye candy back for you guys. I scanned my mom's Kruger coins once and I had the fright of my life......9ct ring gives a nice ping......
the Kruger coins gave me a signal that I probably would not dig ......GRUNT ! like a rusty old copper 5c LOL! Anyway let's see what that Russian gold does.
Viking

I don't know why you could not just use safety glasses for the project.

I don't know if the sun glasses he used was polarized or not.

Here is another video on the same subject.

Remember these are NEAR IR not True IR.
