You are right, but this is more at the foot of the mountain on a small ridge.... These kraals can be hundreds of years old... Normally stone age, but I remember you saying something about a furnace  Idea if I remember correctly. You do know I can only carry beer short distances, then I have to make the load lighter, that could mean drinking 3 bottles on the way  Great

Grin Grin Grin OK I'll carry the beer. Yes that ridge is just in front of the farm if you are looking from the front gate and yes there were some Boer war relics found there too but the main reason why these kraals were there in the first place was for the horses. When the horses got sick the farmers would take them up the "Mountain" as the air was thinner and a certain mosquito or some bug to that effect could not reach that altitude So when there was an out break of this illness they would take the horses up the "Mountain" to protect them from this bug hence the name Perdekop (For the mountain)

You all should try a pan or two in that ravine.

I can definitely validate the size issue with cows, I can remember the one time I was pinned between a cow and a fence, and I thought I was gonna get mashed, for sure.  I punched the cow as hard as I could, and she looked at me like I was just an oversized mosquito.
Lucky for me, she became interested in something else and walked away, otherwise I would have started screaming like a little girl.  Cry
I never let that happen again, for sure.  HH Robroy59

Go Up Go Down

Hi Guys
Also had a bad experience with a bull, he was a youngster and was wearing a collar that we attached a rope to.....to keep it in one general area....anyway the collar got stuck on a branch and so I moved in the undo it, as I got to the beast it started backed away......you probably guessed it but yes the branch came loose.....wham straight in the mouth ....2 teeth through my bottom lip. I was so angry I punched that bull straight in the head.......then guilt kicked in ...I went over to the beast... blood running freely down my chest by now, and gave the bull a quick stroke/hug......"I'm sorry, but that hurt like a bch" I said and turned to walk away......well clearly the animal forgave me because as I turned to walk away.....it jumped on my shoulders and started humping! I managed to stay straight up for like 10 seconds and then I dived down and to the left .....face first into some nice fresh heaps of dung......my dad had been watching silently from a distance......there was just no stopping his laughter!
Ah well, moral of story X......NEVER start forplay with a bull!.
1800+farm= GOOD DETECTING SITE.......buckles, buttons, cutlery, coins............It should all be there. That smelting furnace sounds interesting. Any water holes/damns on the farm?
Viking
