Pete, I can't make them out.  My eyes aren't very good, either!  I tried, and with a magnifing glass, too.   Good luck with that one.    Detecting

The spoon would have been Black/Blue if silver was of higher silver content.

I'm sure I can make out a 40 in that marking.

Just a thought.

Hi gambol1

Well our quote still don't work but here is a bit of an explanation for you. Ho forget the FM but rather think AM now go down in frequency a bit. Any thing up to 20Khz is VLF. You have three coils in the search head, the TX coil of dimension X  and the RX coil half the dimension (diameter) of TX you then have the bucking coil (I have another name for it due to the frustration that it can cause) that goes on top of the RX coil at 180 degrees. The RX coil is twice the amount of turns than the TX coil and the bucking coil is 1/4 the amount of turns than your RX coil OK so that's for the coil now all that you have to do is make a TX and RX that are set at the same frequency and you now have a very simple metal detector on witch you can add a quad comparator to be able to discriminate connect to it a 556 and you can have dual audio one for ferrous  and one for non-ferrous metals. As simple as this metal detector may sound it can actually work quite well IF you have a well configured coil. I could detect a coin at 150mm in soil not to shabby for such a simple machine.

Al the best
Xavier

I had to re-do the coil well actually I'm still busy with it but it seems to be better I now have 0.5v on the base of the transistor in the past I only had 450mv. I connected the multi meter and there is a faze shift that is very noticeable so now the ferrous and non-ferrous should work. as you know I'm not to concerned about depth at the moment I just want to get it working like it should I'll sort out the rest later. So if all goes well we could test it in a week or two (Don't have the time to work on it much)

X, sounds like you are having fun? What I do not understand is your comment "Don't have the time to work on it much" as you do not work, you play  Victory

Go Up Go Down

Hi Guys
Been extremely wrapped up in my own little world lately. No real good hunting, I was going to go last weekend and set my phone alarm for 3.30 am......so it goes off and the wife sticks it under her pillow! Well I missed Bushpig and he ended out going out alone. Well he ended up with 4 rings and R120 bucks in change. Lucky bastsrad!!!!!. Anyways , went out Friday night and it was all quiet.
It has been a theory of mine for a while now that the minicipality actually "rakes the beach "from time to time. I think I figured out that this theory is correct on Friday night and I actually called Bushpig over and showed him. Brand new R1 coins at around 40cm!!!! He then said yes! come and have a look at my hole(sounds bad I know :Smiley) any way he had the same thing, and not only that.....allll our target where at that kind of depth.
All in the course of a week?Huh? No ways man! They are raking for sure. Any way when I enquired about it before all I got as an answer was ehh?Huh? NOOOOO i dont know, sorrie!
Now I just have to find out when, and then follow the tractor to where it turns hehehehe!! Coool Banannas!

Homie
About that house security.....that is not the house .We call that the garden cottage and it's usually built at the bottom of your garden for guests to stay in Funny. Cute though isn't it. Wink
Cheers all and happy hunting! Or should I say "HIGH PITCHED EAR CANDY TO YOU ALL!"

Forgot to mention that the time Bushpig went out alone he also found a 1942 2 Shilling in excellent condition.........by spotting it lying on the surface. Now if that is not conclusive evidence then I don't know.
