The Comparator is using Phase.     It detects the Voltage changes caused by the Phase Change.

If the Phase Changes your looking at a different slope on the sign wave.  Different Voltage Levels.    Eaaaaaaa!

Not Bad for a gold Geezer , Eaaa?

Gambol, I love detecting with X  Kiss he is incredible at getting the wire etc out the ground before me so that I can find the good stuff  Great He is a real gentleman.

The comparator are compairing the phases and noting the changes and recording these.... at least that is how I understand it  Wise

There you go gambol1 a good explanation by Homefire You also basically have a push pull action on a microamp meter so the comparators will be able to determine if you have a voltage going neg or positive .With this you can discriminate by switching to a non ferrous mode or all metal mode the nice thing is you can have two audio signals in the all metal mode. One way is with the 556 being set at two different frequencies. And there are loads more thing that could be done to it but then that would not be the simple one day build machine at R150.00 now all I have to do is figure out a way of making a simple coil for it.

Peter I aint talking to you tonight

Grin Grin Grin OK I'll talk to you tonight. Only a pin head could think of planting pin heads though
OK now on a more serious note I have got the schematics drawn for the VLF BUT I do have a problem my supplier does not have any 0.3mm magnet wire for the coil so I will see if I can do it with 0.5mm magnet wire (Damn search head will be heavy) or I may just be lucky and find a transformer with the right gage wire in it. Any how I will start the build tomorrow.

The yoke wire on some TV's is about that!

The Degause Coil around the tube is good stuff for PI coils .
