Well the cartriges could be from the old Martini-Henry rifles they carried at the time. Course well before the 1928 3 penny

The cartridges were .303 so I am guessing the Lee Metford. The buckles are of the spats that the soldiers wore  Great This site is a fun place to search, and also a surprise that it had not been searched before  Wink

At Pgill and X
You girls set a date for the big day yet? hehehe
Going out at 4 am heeya! I think its goin to be a diamond day or what do you guys think? Emerald, Ruby ,sapphire?
As long as it's in 18kt and above!!! ......or Platinum. Hell maybe I'll stumble across the Peacock Throne!
See........... I'm not fussy. Definitely a water hunt though. Bushpig is going to come in with me this time.......oh lord!
This should be good hehehe! Going to the warm side though so it should be interesting, maybe some wildlife to see again. The west coast is ice cold and like an underwater desert. Last time I was surrounded by sting rays at the beach I'm going to tomorrow.
Chat later.

If you're talking about them small potted greyish coloured rays... don't worry about them just don't try to take them out the water though  Grin it will be quite a shocking experience (Found that out the hard way LOL) As for Peter well I've decided to ignore the man's in-saneness... or should I send him to TARA?  he probably would drive everyone crazy mind you if you drove a crazy man crazy would he not be normal again? (May just have found some use for Peter after all)
On a lighter note I'm going detecting at his favourite site today he he he (With an evil look)  Devil  sure would be a nice revenge to find a Kruger Pond right there where he was detecting last time
Do remember to post us a pic of your new find. I'm sure that you will find some on the warm side (Indian Ocean) for those not living in south Africa and for Peter (man I'm enjoying this)  LMAO

Bet he's delivering them to himself

Homefire our winters are warm enough to detect but in the Cape it's the rainy season, where I am it the dry season and as far as I'm concerned the better season to detect as most of the grass has been burned, and out of the way at the moment it's growing and growing fast. For Viking detecting in the shallows it wont make any difference as the sea temperature wont change and the rain wont bother him.  He really is in the better spot where he is and has the best of both worlds (relics and rich tourists  Cool )  I'm quite confident that he will have made a good find today.
