Hi peaceangel12000,

Welcome to the Forum, and to our Topic. What type of area do you search in, and what type of finds do you come across? How about placing a couple of photos for us to see?

I concur , when I read "Pirate Treasure!" ............Photos!
Welcome PeaceAngel. Please tell us more and include pics when you get the chance.
I'm on my ace with the kids this week....HECTIC! I went out Sunday morning but it was storming so I never got pics of the hunt.
Our West Coast water is Freezing cold at all times but my wetsuit worked a treat. The surf was pretty rough and it was bucketing down from about 5am -6.30pm. Also used my old (now modified )scoop and it worked much better than before. The water was pretty churned up so I didn't venture too far......felt a bit sharky at times hehe! I want to post the finds pics but I gotta go do story time now lol! ah well is suppose that  before I know it the little buggers won't want to cuddle and hug any more....better enjoy it while it's there!
I'll post some pics a little later

Hi Guys !
Just come back from short break in Balito ( Indian Ocean side - for the guys from overseas ) Managed to get to the beach twice - from about 6am to 9 am . Beaches are still very quiet , O.K it was middle of the week . Results very disappointing : very few hits , all together - R 12 in coins and few pieces of metal, bottle caps etc. Good things is I didnt have to dig too many bottle caps - looks like I am starting to understand my machine better - I was walking with Whites DFX . Excalibur is great machine for the water but original shaft is uncomfortable on the land and I am making plan to make my own - " straight shaft " and with this monstrous  waves there is no chances to into the Ocean ! Viking , send me on PM yours postal address so I can send you my scoop ( works very well in the water ! ) - I will have no chances to go to the sea before end of the year and by than I will probably make another one ! You can , at least , put it at work !  By the way , sun was so strong that I am already busy changing my burnt skin , like a snake , very painful !  Cry
Good luck to everybody ! Silki .

Hi Silki, great to hear from you again  Great thought you had gone to England  Crazy

Balito was a nice place in the early 1980's, but it is too built up now.... We stayed in the La Montague hotel (the hotel with all the terraces). The year we went, we was swimming in the non-swimming zone as the swimming area is full of rocks (was).... we swam between an island,,,,, we climbed out the water as a fisherman was catching a few small sharks from the island which made me uncomfortable  we walked down to the swimming safe area where I kicked my toe on a rock..... got cross and walked back to the island to find a 7 foot long shark swimming where we swam just 10 minutes before..... Moral of the story  Wise either stay out the water or swim in a swimming pool  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Great to have you back buddy  Clapp

Hi Peter ! Good to hear You, Buddy !
You will not believe it , I just didnt mentioned that , but I was also swimming on Wednesday ( in non swimming area ! ) and big wave took me on the rocks and now looks like my second toe is broken !! -  blue and swollen but I am afraid of doctors Shocked so I am just trying to ignore this ... Undecided I remember funny story from few years back when my friend with his family came for holiday ( from Poland ) We were staying in Zinkwazi , and one day we were playing in the waves and than one moment , fisherman next to us pulled out about 1.5 meter shark ! You should see the faces of my friends !!! Grin It was very difficult after that to convince them for the swim !
Generally , I love beach detecting - you still dont get much, but at least digging is easy !!

Hi Homey  Great Xavier is just busy on that farm.... They are doing all the ploughing, ripping, turning, planting and drinking at the moment... He even cancelled a detecting trip due to the workload. The wife and I was there last Sunday for a Braai (barbeque), and we had a great time with him. They also at the moment do not have internet except for the phone, so communication is difficult, but he is doing great  Musican Sheep Sheep Sheep

Silki, check out my short video of the two warthogs.... can you believe they can be so friendly?Huh?Huh??

Hi Guys
Well I know that I was going to post pics last week already but as it would be Life just kind of got in the way hehe. But actually it's not such a bad thing because now I have more to show you.
I did 2 different beaches, and had some of the best hunting of my life this weekend. I have decided not to give away any of my spots though, that way we might have some good hunting should any of you ever venture onto my turf.
The beaches , as Silki stated in a previous mail are pretty slim pickings most of the time and are obviously the hardest hit by other detectorists. Well I am slowly decifering the oceans "valuable goods dispersal system"
Nice to hear from all of you again.
Silki
Don't worry about the scoop. I have modified the one I made from an old stop sign. It had some design issues but it is the best digger ever now! It is as heavy as hell but in the surf it is actually a great help to have a big heavy object to dig with. Our sea floor is very compacted and hard, but this thing just takes bites like a bull dozer. It is incredibly strong and I have lever all my strength against it. I will put some pictures up. It looks like crap but it works!
Pgill.....please don't cry too much when you see the pics! I want to get in touch with you this week to chat about some filming issues I want to sort out.
I am going to update the blog again this week, so I will post when it is done and then you can read about the hunt and finds of the last two weekends in more detail.

some more pics, I am reducing them and posting as I go.

Pgill, would you open up the lipstick holder or leave it shut.....I'm kind of dying to see what is still inside...........maybe it is a shade that would suite me lol!

Go Up Go Down

These last few pics are of a bracelet I actually "dived out" today as it was in the water at about 1.6-7m and the waves kept breaking over me! It took about 12 scoops and about 25 min to get it out. Almost gave up I was so tired. I will never consider giving up a target again though!......EVER!
The last pic of the bracelet is to give you some idea of its size.
It weighs a whopping 42 grams and is 9ct gold. How do you like them apples!!!!!
Can't really describe how it feels to pull something out like that. I will sleep well tonight that I CAN tell you!
Any way hope you enjoyed the pics.....oh and then the scoop and some of the trash that robbed me of valuable treasure hunting time!
Kind regards to all and look forward to your feedback.
Viking
