Come on Xavier ! Make Pgill jealous ! Show us some pictures of gold rings tomorrow !

I started using Google Earth in my research and want to show you nice results !
Marked structures on the Google earth photos  represents what you see on the real photo , on the last photo structure 1 is that stony wall , but in the field I didnt see and missed structures marked as a 2 and 3 , also that trees - area in the corner can be interesting as they provide shadow in the hot days and most probably was used for the camp (?) Something to explore next time !

Okay now you just pushed the dagger in all the way Cheesy
Careful with your research, or you might find a lot of little holes in the ground when you get there.
This looks like like a winner site.

PGill/Silki/Viking/Xavier
Thanks for the kind words and the invite to hunt in your beautiful country. And believe me, I'd love more than anything to come over to hunt with all of you but there's a lot going on and first things first, I'm scheduled to get hearing aids this month and not sure what they cost over in SA but here, a good pair runs between $5,000 and $8,000 and that's a hefty nut. Then as I said I'm going to that Civil War hunt in Feb and in April, back to jolly England for 10 days. Then the wife wants me to give her a little time so we can both get away and I'm in talks with Pierre about going to Phuket Thailand for a week the first week of March. Not sure I can swing that one but it's nice to think I can. So you see the first part of the year is tight.
Oh, and I think Lukas is planning something for Sept which I did say to him I'd be interested. Anyway, thanks for the invite.
I'm always reading your posts and sitting here in the U.S. and reading of your plans is exciting to say the least. Of course, I wish you all the best and hope you can pull this off. We are too soon gone so let's enjoy what we have while we still can.
Regards, Jim

Hi Guys

Ho where to start OK Pgill what I did is I made the coil on a piece of ferrite with the same inductance as the coil on my MD then I connected it to circuit with a switch so as to toggle between coil and pin pointer man it works great lots of wind today again so no beach hunt Darn.

I have been looking on Google Earth at a spot that I use to got to when I was still living up in gangsters paradise but the graphics card on my PC is as old as can be so here are the coordinates LAT 26d 26' 1.28"S   LONG 27d 59' 26.82"E I do hope that you have a good card so as to post a photo of the place.

Viking could be onto something there we could make this a first get together and lets face it any excuse is a good one if you ask me LOL

Sorry to disappoint you Silki but no hunting today. I'm afraid making Pgill jealous will just have to wait a while.

Jimmyg8138 sounds like you are quite a busy man if you like I can find out what is the price for hearing aids over here $5,000 sounds like a lot to me that would be equivalent to R35,000 in fact I think thats outrageous.

Regards Xavier

Go Up Go Down

Hi Jim:
Holy Moley that's a lot of dosh for a hearing aid! I know that I will need them eventually, I get the ringing of a pulltab signal in my ears all the time. When I did my aviation medical the doctor actually commented and said "well you see a lot better than you hear" and I am only 39 now so you can just imagine.
Pgill
So what do you say....get together?
Xavier
Sometimes it's not the graphics card...seems to me that some parts on Google earth are in a much lower res, I get perfect images of certain areas but when I go and look at some of the sites I research up North, the pics are terrible.
Google should start a treasure site just for us......after all it's the right thing to do!
Silki
Before we all get on the band wagon...is it possible for you too organize a stay for a small group. As I said I love camping , but don't mind staying in a b&b for a couple of days.
Obviously we would need to co ordinate...business commitments, finances etc.
I just don't want see you under pressure to organize this thing....it's got to be fun all the way.
Let me know if you need help with any arrangements.
Viking

Hi Viking ! Pls, tell me which area / beaches in CT do you usually hunt? Are they reach ? As far as I remember most of them are very rocky ! Do you go into the water ? Do you have any waterproof detectors ?

Thanks for the info Xavier. I'm going for my hearing test the 27th of Dec and at that point I'll find out what the price will be. I know I do want good ones so I'll just have to bite the bullet and spring for them. I believe there is a  45 day trial period. Anyway I appreciate the info and all the best. Jim

Viking...39, did you really say 39? Just wanted you to know that I have three sons, 47, 44 and 40....I turned 72 this past August but inside of me is a 50 year old trying to get out if you know what I mean. I'd had ringing for the past 30 or so years and I just purchased the black widow headphones and they do help in hearing those deep targets.

Thanks to all for the concern and I sure hope you guys get to meet up and find some nice relics.
Jim
