Thanks Homefire, I normally use the heal of the detector..... I am getting better at pinpointing, but it is taking time to get it sorted out. What I do try and do is to locate using the detector, and then noting the exact position when found, and then see what the difference is.... this has helped me to get better results  Great

Pgill, have a good holiday, I hope everything is fine in merrie ol England! Waveing

I would like to see a better picture of your coin digger. Is that a modified garden tool? I was thinking about making just such a tool for one-handed operation. It seems to me a blade about 4 inches wide and some added weight in the head would make it ideal for chopping down about 3 inches in one stroke and pulling the clod out with one hand. The problem with the shovel is it takes 2 hands or a hand and a foot to get the clod out. In the process I have developed "trigger finger" of my shovel hand from the strain of lifting the clod with one hand.....  gambol

Homefire is right. The toe works well but it takes some getting used to. also criss-cross helps.

Hi Gambol,

I am not in England yet, only there on the 6th September  Great Looking forward to it  Shocked

My digging tool is two lawnmower blades welded together and sharpened. The blade is then fastened onto a plumbing socket which is welded onto a 1/2" pipe  Great the best thing about it is that even hitting rocks and digging very hard ground, it stays sharp.

Hi Viking,

I am hoping to with AU, but I must get his phone number, he has gone very quiet these days  No no!

Gambol, my digging tool is a must here in South Africa with our hard ground. Even with the digger, it is tough work, but good exercise  Wise

I made a digger out of a light car leaf spring once.  Someone offered me to much for it and it's gone.  LOL

Awesome....cant wait for the results, where is X any way? Is he "gone roofing"? My Durban build was pretty hectic, there had been a wedding the day before....n' all and they didn't break the stage down so we only got to start at 12.30 and we finished at 1 am.
Still a bit stiff mind you.
I can post a few pics if you like. The client was Sanlam and they where fantastic to build for. Spoiled us with food and bev. believe me you work up an appetite when you do this work hehehe!
