You guys are nuts...... No no! I hope you guys are packing when you go to sites like this Fight! Maybe a good idea to not wear headphones for this one. You want to hear what's going on around you.
By the way I was just kidding about the gold coins here......they actually turned out to be pull tabs. Mad Funny.
Looks like a good site though, would have loved to join you..........I'll be in Durban next week for a build. No time to hit the beaches though, only have one day to build the stand.
I have been at the CTICC for the last 3 days building the same stand!

Pgill, I see you are happy with the ACE 250. I did extensive ground testing with mine to compare it to the Fisher 75 when I got it. I paid $1000 for the extra 7.5 cm of depth when I bought the Fisher. (U.S. 1 oz silver coin 23 CM with the F75 and 15 cm with the ACE) I believe the ACE actually has a better discrimination program than the F75. The U.S. nickel (5 Cent coin)rings just like a pull tab 99% of the time with the Fisher, The ACE identifies the nickel as a nickel over half the time. Needless to say I've been digging lots more pull tabs since I got the Fisher and fewer nickels. Also on the high end. The U.S. 25 cent piece isn't very well distinguished from larger trash by the Fisher while the ACE has no problem distinguishing a dime from a quarter from a larger piece of trash most of the time.  Part of it may be because I havn't used the Fisher that much. I used the ACE for over a year and I learned it well.

Pgill, Went to your Computer history web site. Intersting. That is an old valve. I believe the IBM univac used the 6sn7. dual triode for switching. I came across this bit of information from a technician I worked with a few years ago. He said he was a 'valve changer' who worked on the original univac.... Not too long ago I went to a wrecking yard to get a part for my truck. What did I see? Big Blue right by the main gate. Probably a early eighties model, Its guts spilling out on the Texas prairie. Complete with two of those 12 inch 4 high hard drives. Gambol

Hi Gambol,

I am very blessed with the Ace 250  Great my only gripe is the difficulty with learning pinpointing  Thumbs Down I am getting there, but my holes are still too big for my liking. My Tesoro pinpoints exactly with no problems. In fact with the Tesoro I never used a pinpointer, now with the Ace I find it is a must to have the pinpointer in my hand  Angry
I detected around my small garden last Sunday afternoon (15 min hunt  :Smiley   ) I got a signal which tuned out to be a very rusty pin at around 5". I was impressed as it was badly corroded, the signal was very iffy, but it found it. I have dug holes that I still have not found the contents off, but the detector still detects something, and in one tiny spot, so not mineral. I definitely recommend the Ace 250, umm, wonder what the 350 is like  Idea

As for the computer museum, the Eniac computer had over 15000 valves in it, and took over a complete floor of a warehouse. The amazing thing with the Eniac is that it never completed a computation, this was due to valves burning out before it could complete the computation. But they knew it would do great things  Wise
The valve changers, pushed trolleys around that were full of new valves, and would go from blown valve to blown valve, wow what a job  Teach
