Hello Mike, cool finds. I may want to learn a tip or two from you. Especially on listening to good targets. Smiley HH

Supernice finds!

A recommendation to all MD people; Use the "flower" mode on your camera / mobile camera (quite often to be found in the menu) when taking pictures of your findings, it will allow you to take sharp and good pictures at a distance of a couple of centimeters or inch if you prefer. Ditch the flash mode, use a lamp or other light sources in your surrounding.

If you wanna present professional pictures of your finds, build or purchase a small "light box", as an example:

A few more photo tips.

Avoid direct lighting.

Ditch the flash(as said)

Indirect out door lighting on a
bright day is a good lighting
source.

Focus is more importamt than
getting your lense close to the
object.

You do not have to get supper
close with a camera that has 4mp
or more..... There is plenty of
clearity to crop your photos and
get that super close up shot.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Also the final thing about digi cam shooting:
Squeeze the button until the cam beeps or chirps, this is the confirmation of a end of trying to find focus and then push it to the bottom, finalizing the picture.

If you push the "trigger" to the bottom straight away, the picture is going to be blurry and out of focus.
The less power in the camera batteries the harder it gets to get correct zooming and focus.

Thank you Niobium.

It took some practice to learn what little I know.

You have a better handle on it.

I leaned something from you.

Thanks mate,

Tabdog

Tabdog-

I think it?s always fun to help other ppl out, you guys help me regarding the metal detecting, and i?m a tech nerd, working with computer support every day and have a big photo interest, maby it?s time to start a separate "How to get the best pictures of your finds" thread?

A good picture is the perfect complement when item is sold, the money is spent, so why don?t do it right from the beginning?
With a little technique you can get real good pictures of a 50$ digital camera.

The last recommendation; ALWAYS reformat your memorycard inside of your camera (via the menu system) when downloaded all the pictures to your computer, this will refresh the "sectors" on your memory card, preventing the card from becoming corrupt due to writing error or from having bad batteries. Also always use rechargeable batteries since the have more power (mAH) then traditional batteries.

Best of luck to you all!

Good tip Niobium,
I was wondering until now the purpose of that reformat menu. At least I can really clean up my memory card. It used to be able to hold up as much as 300 pics, but now the capacity has been reduced so much. Thanks for the info.

Good luck. HH  Cool

Niobium,

My SD memory card has photos on it but when I try to transfer them to the computer a box pops up telling me the card is unreadable. I am able to view them still on my digital camera so the memory card is not completely broken. Do you think that if I reformat the memory card it might fix the problem?  I would just do it but than I would lose the pictures on the memory card before they were transferred.  Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!
