well that's the sort of depth I was thinking of, just for surface stuff because my machine go too deep even when they are set to zero,

Most stuff you find isn't buried too deep, but some treasures are, like civil war stuff and meteorites. I use mine mainly in the parks, because they don't want you bringing in shovels and picks and digging the whole place up just for finding corroded pennies No no! Angry. When I see a park ranger I let him know what I am doing and how I plan to retrieve my finds. This usually leads to a friendly conversation about different things we have both found over the years. We have a few man made lakes. They are not near the cities so a vehicle is required,  but a yearly fee sticker must be purchased in advance to park your car there and detecting is allowed in only certain places. Which reminds me, I have to renew mine.

Once you get one of those pinpointers, you will wonder how you ever got along without one.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

I found 100 targets Sunday early morning at the beach. The tide was low and I was all alone with the Moon and the ocean. Unfortunately the best thing I found was a dollar coin.
Today I hunted my house (built in 1890), with my vibra-tector. All I found was screws, nails, and modern pennies. But, the small detector works great in tight areas. If it only had discrimination I'd be set.

I like the compact ness of this machine, and Dusty Carl has the Probe Version which is The best Probe for hot Ground unlike the VLF probes,
