Farmdigger...Can you believe it!  We were talking earlier about our trip out, she's game.  We are gonna try and time it between the muzzleloader hunt and the youth hunt.  no hunting then.

caldigger...I still can't believe I did that.  I always check my gear the night before and prior to leaving and I still missed it.  I sure am getting forgetful.

Years ago you could find old steam engines and yarders abandoned in the bush where they logged. Harrison Lake was a favorite spot of mine.

Interesting find, you have there, was there any water nearby where the Loggers boomed up the logs, they loose a lot of goods in the water while working on the booms putting them together.

I live in northeast michigan, logging history goes way back here. I have researched several old mills, and camps. Now its just getting permission to hunt the land as most of these sites are private now.

Anything is worth recovering in my book, the unknown in metal detecting is what I like.  Best of luck.

gustavus...during our trip we talked to a local who said there was a recent fire in the area which exposed some old logging machinery that even they did not know was there.  You never know what one will find. I will have to research the water in the area.  Yeah, that old car did look like a Hudson.

bounty hunter...hello, good luck on the permission.  I'm sure with persistence you will be hunting the area soon!

pirate052...couldn't have said it any better!  The unknown is one of the best parts of any adventure!  Good luck to ya!

Good hunting all!                   Ironman
