Go Up Go Down

Went back to the Church Picnic area for a 2 hour hunt hoping to find an area I missed or a silver or two.  I found way more than I hoped for and got a sampling of just about every type of silver coin I found here previously.  I hunted an area I briefly checked and was only finding zinc pennies and clad.  I was picking up better signals right next to the zinc pennies and anded up hitting some great silver.  First tight signal was a Rosie.  then I found a Washington that was ringing up 12-44 to 46 next to some really low tones.  Next came a real weak nickel signal that turned out to be a war nickel.  The big surprise came next with a real iffy signal that had some silver dime maybe quarter readings.  This turned out to be a really sharp Walking Liberty that must of been on edge or off somewhat.  The next signal was the first real strong silver dime signal (solid 12-46) that indeed was a Merc.  Two more weaker penny signals also tirned out to be worn Merc's so the day turned into a real winner.  Definitely boosted my hopes for a few more silver at the Church.  Currently at 63 Mercs which is over twice as many than I found all year.  Two weeks and school is over which opens up two old school areas I can't wait to get to with the Etrac.  Keep digging Wisconsindigger.  Bottom 3 coins are from a previous hunt

Nice finds. Makes you wonder if a site is ever worked-out. With the winter weather and frost I would guess some on edge coins may turn just enough to be found. Keeps one going back.

No site is ever truly worked out. The finds may be fewer with more space between them but they are never gone.

Looks like the American people are very careless when holding on to their money. I hardly ever find coins here  Sad

Very true about American people being careless with their money.   There are exceptions, but I would say that as general rule they are careless especially when it comes to quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies.

Xavier, it's more of a numbers game. Our recreational areas have been in constant use since the early 1900s or earlier in some rare cases. We are a nation of people who like to picnic, carouse around carnivals and circuses and participate casual sports. We do that at every opportunity. Thousands of us. Many times a year. Laughing, rolling around, having a good time and rollicking with our children cause coin spills of one to a dozen coins. If I lost 1 or 2 coins a day, I'd never miss them. If I lost my wallet, well I'd most likely notice it before I got too far away. It is carelessness but understandable.

Like Seldom says, it's really good for us over here.

Plus its not uncommon to see young kids 6 or 8 yo's with a pocket full of change running and jumping around the school yard or the park.

Gotta agree with GD. Seems like if your wait a winter and go back the frost, at least here in New England, rearranges things and your back in business.

Very true Seldom. That reminds me when I found 16 hidden clad quarters in a tot lot one next to each other. Many people here and there have tried to figure how they got there, but at this point who cares!  Grin

Schools here in Chicago are off limits unless they are located in park district land or the school has decided to let neighbors use the backyard for recreation. I have been lucky on those with clad, tokens, and jewelry.  Smiley
