Go Up Go Down

I haven't post any finds for some time.  Sad
not because I don't go out detecting or luck of finds.
but it's always the same.
modern coins, lead sinkers, toys, rubbish etc etc.  Embarrassed
yesterday was my fourth time in the water for this season  and that the second gold ring. Smiley
7.4 grams of 18 carat gold with a nice size stone on it.  Shocked
and the BEST of all its a man's ring.
Safe from the misses open and continuous claim for every gold ring  Wink

Nice finds! I used to love searching the WA beaches with my dog. We'd get there before sunrise and work until the first beachgoers showed up. I'd do $100 most days with 4 to 5 hours of searching. The sky is so clear over there that the starlight is bright enough to search. When the moon was cooperating, I could read.

No more $100.00 dollars days.
there are too many detectors at any popular or unpopular beach.
also the council change the coin operated parking meters  with credit card or pay by phone meters,
so people are not using coins any more.
last week a went to St Kilda beach.(look at the photos. Not a very big place)

I was there at 6:15 am, and my detecting body was there at 6:00.
four people was at the beach detecting before us.
we stayed there watching them for 20 minutes and by that time  three more people turn up.
the good old days are GONE.  Sad  Sad

I never gave much mind to other detectorists other than a quick chat. I'd go right behind them and dig tons of stuff they missed. Not many of us grid search a beach but I do. When I find on coin, I stop and grid search and normally find many more. Even on heavily hunted beaches, I almost always had days over $50 and lots of $100 days. I found my Minelab and my Tesoros were best for grid searching.
