Go Up Go Down

So, I thought I'd have about an hour before the storm rolls in, and I dash out to the closest elementary school to hunt around in there. So, I get all set up, get the metal detector out, put my glove on, the knee pads, and I just realize - I forgot the shovel! Darnit! OK, strike one... I let it go, and head over to the playground....
I get there find a couple of pennies, a paperclip, and keep going. I then move on to some grass next to the playground.. start to dig up a plug there and my hand-spade breaks! It's plastic, not a metal one! Strike two!!  Angry

So, then I go back to the play area (all shreadded tires in there) so I figure, OK if I get another hit, I'll just move the tire chunks away with my hand no problem... I then get a hit! I scoop away, and keep scooping, strong signal! ... keep scooping... hmmm this is pretty deep.... about 10" down... it's a huge metal sheet like you put over chicken coops (has the grooves every 2")! All over the play area... now the detector is getting positive hits on the metal sheet underneath all the shreadded tire. OK, I'm done.

I guess I'll be shopping now for a new hand spade/digger.
 Angry

hehe - yeah. Luckily I found my backup hand shovel. I've had it for a while now. So, I'll just take that one with me.

Is that shovel even legal Homefire? lol. If I found it all every time i go out I would not be happy. As far as stuff breaking, well your using it. Now you get to buy new. Sounds like a righteous hunt to me you had. Large metal does give my detectors a hard time too. If you slow your swing down your sometimes able to pull a shallow coin next to the large metal. You probably know to turn the sens way down already. But try this, just use your pin pointer, you will be pleasantly surprised.
