Yesterday I went to a tiny park near town.
Chalk up my first metal button find. I couldn't determine what it said, then washed it with some mild soap & water and took the soft toothbrush to it for a few minutes. Finally, I was able to read it. It's a Faded Glory button. Not too old I'd guess. Still, pretty fun finding something like that.
I popped up a quarter in the grass, then moved on to the playground which was all covered in sand. I only got about half way done when I had to leave. However, it was pretty successful getting 11 pennies, four dimes, and another quarter. Two of the coins in the playground were surface finds. The oldest quarter to date now for this year was also on this trip - which was a 1966. Yeah, I know just missed the silver date by a couple of years!
