Makes me want to own/operate one of those 'coinstar' machines really bad! Who knows what son/daughter might go rummaging through parents drawers and find some old coins that they take into the store to get cash for! I'm sure it happens a lot.

 Grin

No doubt,  While working at a Horse Track.  I watched a kid place ten dollars of bets with a roll of qtrs.  I thought nothing of it until the lady next to me freaked out and told me that they were all silver qtrs!

Since I kinda knew the kid I ragged the hell out of him for stealing his parents or grandparents money.  I made sure to let him know that he just threw away $400 US worth of collectible coins.  He begged for them back but there was no way that old lady would give the kid the coins back unless he brought his parent back with him to get them.  She was not going to let that kid get away with steeling from a family member.

Needless to say, the kid was never going to let his parent know that he was betting horses and my coworker kept the roll.

We used to come across silver coins at the track each and every day that I was there roughly fifteen yrs ago.

Smiley when I was a kid I started collecting steel pennies and my parents told me they would never be worth anything. I was 5 yrs old and I am now 70!  I should have not listened to my mom and dad?Huh?
