I bought this device about 6 months ago and have used it for gathering an incredible amount of data from libraries, newspapers, magazines, maps on the wall and just about anything, anywhere, as long as it is flat. It's unbelievable and so handy. Combine that with a good camera and you're golden.

It's a scanner that doesn't need a computer. You scan documents at one of two different DPI levels. They are stored in memory inside this device which is about the size of a thick ruler. I have a 16Gbyte memory card in mine which will save around 8,000 pages at 600DPI and 20,000 pages at 300DPI. You download it into a computer when you get back to your office.

Have a look at it here. It doesn't come with a memory card but you can order one from the catalog on the site.

This is handy in places that won't allow you to set up your computer and scanner to copy documents. It's so small that most people don't even realize that you have it. At $85.00 post paid, it's a researcher's dream.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

That sounds like a terrific research item. Thanks for the tip!

Now that there is cool.     I remember back in the 80's someone sold a hand held copier that printed on thermal paper that would go all black if you let it get too hot.

I see they reduced in in price. Curse them! But I've gotten my use out of it and some. I take it to the reference section of libraries when I do research and don't have to pay the 50c per page copy fee. Not only that but the books don't get flattened like they do in a copier. It works better than I expected it to work and download is simple. Plug the memory into an adapter and put it into a folder.

REDUCED PRICES! I love it and hate that they did it AFTEr I bought mine. Such is life.
