I've spent a lot of time in the Superstition Wilderness, I believe the mine exists. You won't find anything reading about the Dutchman, but hike the trails and keep your eyes wide open and you will see. Keep in mind that mining is not allowed in the wilderness. You can't dig or remove anything.

I've spent a lot of nights reading about the Dutchman, especially since 2007...

Hey Bear,

Very interesting. Just a navigational thing Im asking. For this info to be correct, wouldn't you need to know the real resting place of the Peralta Stones? I like the fact you used the priest map?

I believe the Peralta Stones were found at the Don's Camp near the Peralta trail head.

Actually it would make more sense they dropped the stones as they were runing from indians. I dont think the massacre site was any where close to any mine.

Also the stones may be older than the Peralta mines. Without knowing where the stones were found, it may prove them useless in any search of any mine.

You have to have at least two known references for navigating to get your position. The stones are the same. Mayan math and maps are a good example of why the Peralta Stones have failed to produce any treasure.

Of course, it just could be there isnt any left, after the hundreds of years of robbery committed by the peoples of the desert, the cache is all gone.

More likely the mines are on Indian Reservations. To any account the Peralta Stones give you a idea of a mindset, how it was done. If you look at the stones like a map, you will never find anything.

To read the stones as a Spanish map, you would need to be trained. I missed that online course. Having navigated many ways, there is a few pieces of the puzzle missing. Find those pieces and understand them, and the stones may prove useful.

Listening to all the accounts, historical and made up. It becomes apparent that this story is a cover for something else in the region. The real story I dont think you will get off the Peralta Stones. I have been told of many wonders in that desert.

The Apache or Yavapi tribes could probably solve this mystery. But they arent talking. The restrictions put on the search, and the unfortunate accidents that keep happening can be only two things. The more deception, the bigger the prize, or the prize isnt there. I think searches to the South and to the Far North East would prove more fruitful. I also think some legends are one in the same.

I do know every time I drove through the Apache Junction area, something bad was going on. Flat tires, tickets, accidents. I never had a reason to set foot on the ground. I may go check out the museum and see if I can change my mind on some things. But any time there is a "lookie here marker", I usually find it is to distract you from what you should be looking at.

A lot of people will disagree. But what they are doing isnt working.

I've been studying spanish monuments, trail markers and symbols for a few years now and still have a lot to learn. I haven't had any luck trying to read the peralta stones. I believe each map maker interpets spains rules a little differently.
I worked in the supersititions for two winters seasons and I'm a believer . . . I don't know about a cache, but there is definitly a mine. Most likely the mine is buried and it will take mother nature to reveal it.
