Don't know why I bought this.  I have three other Chines Toys that cover Freq Counting Much better.

Added to my Toy List.

Original Hiland 1Hz-50MHz Five LED Display Frequency Counter With Frequency Oscillator Kit

1-50Mhz Frequency counter
This document describes the construction of small frequency counter with a
cheap PIC microcontroller and a few seven-segment LED digits. The main
features of the frequency counter are:
· frequency range 1 Hz ... 50 MHz
· five digits resolution (display for example x.xxxx kHz, x.xxxx MHz,
or xx.xxx MHz)
· automatic range switching with different gate times
· optional addition or subtraction of a frequency offset (programmable)
· optional preamplifier for the input signal
· very low component count: a PIC 16F628, 5 7-segment LED displays,
a 20-MHz crystal and a few resistors
· optional (configurable) power-saving mode which automatically turns
the display off if the frequency didn't change significantly within 15
seconds

Less then 1 hour of construction time.

Uses ? Not Much. LOL with only 5 digits it would be Ok for audio work but not much else. Built in Crystal Checker is some what worthless. Osc will not fire up with crystals less then 8 MHz as built. This can be fixed by Increasing Cap Values in Osc.

The M8 Transistor Tester(Ver.12864) is a much better option. Not only does it have like 8 digit freq display it performs many more task.

1. Resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors, SCR, and most commonly used devices will automatically recognize and measure
2. The capacitance line measurement capacity and ESR
3. The square-wave generator
4.PWM pulse signal generator
5. Frequency meter function
6. The graphical display of measurement results, easy and intuitive, the whole function is performed by a rotary encoder switch control, easy to operate.

As Usual a Sucky photo.

I still have the DSO 150 O-Scope kit to build .   Not had a need for it at this time.

You can separate the men from the boys by the number and size of their toys (errr...to rephrase...size of their mechanical toys) Grin

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

I always heard the only difference between Men and Boys is the Price of the Toys.  Guess I'm not so grown up after all .  I can't afford the Good Toys.
