I'll be using one as soon as my Compadre shows up from the USA. Soon, mate. Soon.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

My son uses a Compadre. It is a very good, and very simple machine to use. Turn on and go. I use an Eldorado myself. I would like to trade up for a Cortez. Let me know how your Compadre works out for you. Good luck!

It's for the wife. She hates all the knobs and buttons. I was looking for the simplest, lightest model out there and the Compadre fit the bill just right. Hopefully, she'll use it after I give it a good workout.

[tapping foot with impatience waiting for the postman to deliver it] Is there an emoticon for that?  Undecided

Hay Chemmys,

I am a Tesoro user. I have two Compadres. (MisSpeedy and MrSpeedy)
They are one of my favories.

I used to have an Eldorado and loved it. I sold it because I also had
a Euro Sabre uMax. The Euro is just like the Eldorado except it has an
Iron ID switch where the Eldorado has a frequency adjust switch. It
seemed redundent.

I also have a Vaquero and a Silver Sabre uMax.

Never tried the Cortez. I just stay with uMax machines now days.

Oh, welcome to the forum,

Tabdog

I have a bad case of Tesoro-itis myself.

Started with a Silver uMax then added a Compadre.

Now waiting on delivery of a Vaquero.

I gotta find a cure soon.

I have had a Silver uMax for a few weeks, then I traded it in for an EuroSabre II. I hope to buy another Silver uMax (SE) soon. Get a S.E.F. 12x10 from Detech and you get extra few inches with any Tesoro detector. Especially the uMax series is very lightweight and quite powerful. The Vaquero is (IMHO) the best deal. Tejon is even a bit better. All in all, I think you cannot get a bad detector from Tesoro, all have their purposes.
