Go Up Go Down

Spent a few hours with my new baby yesterday, walked down to the local swimming hole and around the yard a bit. Ended up with 2 quarters, 8 dimes, 1 nickel, 10 copper pennies and 16 zinc pennies for a total of 37 coins. Plus I found a couple keys and a brass keychain fob from the U of O, a sprinkler a hose end, and hose nozzle. And I figured out what everyone was talking about when they said the Omega loves bottle caps, I dug plenty of them. So far I am totally impressed with my new tector.

Go Up Go Down

Thanks guys, we made it out to the site of the boarding house. We ended up detecting around the barn and found no coins at all Sad we did however find a lot of relics, a bunch of log dogs, square nails, bolts, wire, nails, a piston, a pepsi can, and a unidentified object I cant figure out maybe some type of harness clip? Im sure there are coins out there but with all the junk in the ground I think a sniper coil is the only way your going to find anything without removing tons of iron.

the unknown object is in the last 4 pictures, it is hand forged and the tips are beveled and look like it may have been designed to bend back to each other like a chain repair link.

Well I am impressed. Most people don't find many nickles or dimes the first time out with a new machine. Good going.

Well, thankyou Seldom. One of the reasons I went with the Omega (besides the smokin deal I got on it) was that everyone said it had a short learning curve. But as you get to know it, it can grow with you using more of the features. I have mostly been hunting on d3 which gives a similar feedback to the Lone Star. I have heard d2 has better depth but the tones are not as easy to discern. I LOVE the pinpointing, I was able to pinpoint 3 objects within 4" of each other without digging them up one at a time. And the overload is pretty cool, when it squawks just reach down and pick up your coin off the surface. I am curious why you say most dont find dimes though, on my machine they come in exactly the same as copper pennies at 84-85.

Silver Dimes can be sneeky.

If your finding Nickels, the Rings will show up too.

I have yet to have the pleasure of finding any silver anything. about half of the clad I found at the creek was from this summer just on the surface under the grass. I dug 4 dimes from the backyard 2 in each hole about 4 feet apart. I got a bunch more signals in the gravel parking area but didnt have my pick with me and am not diggin 6" of packed gravel with a screwdriver. Im just waiting for the Corps to start draining the reservoirs so I can go find some jewelry in the swimming areas.

Your pullin good stuff there.  Remeber the coins add up and so does the scrap.   The silver and gold will come, it's just more rare.  Just have to keep diggin nickles and pull tabs for they sound similar.  I once read that a $5 gold piece sounds like 3 nickles taped together,  just sayin.

I read that about the nickels as well, been meaning to try that. I think I may have found my first silver signal today at the park, 97-98 at 7 inches. But the ground was rock hard and there was no way I was getting down 7 inches with my screwdriver.... tomorrow I will take a better implement with me. Ended up with two dimes two nickels and a zincoln in 25 minutes. plus a corona cap a zipper pull and a big wad of foil. I put a big scratch in one of the nickels with my screwdriver, lucky it is a 2000 and not something valuable. gotta be more careful in the future  Smiley
