You nailed it hardluck.  First sentence to the last... it all rings 100% true.  And my head is swimming.  Our president just over the weekend was speaking at a graduation ceremony at a college here.  He started harping on the negatives of technology... how things like computers and ipods, etc were a distraction that was destroying our economy.  This from the same man who gave the Queen of England an ipod as a gift.  It just boggles the mind. He has no clue, and we have no leadership.  We have a talking head who can't even talk without a teleprompter, and an economy that is fleeing the country as fast as it can find some other place to go.

Hello Bigwater

American political 2 party system in some respects similar the British, and Australian political party system. In other words you have a two party system that acts as a duopoly which controls the political ideology of country and both have over the last 40/ 50 years preached the same old manta.

There is not much change in policy whoever gets in. The flag will change but everything is still pretty much the same. The same bureaucrats and lobby groups will still be awash with corporate slush funds bankrolling their agendas.

Every few years We have elections with some politician announcing a new deal and promising the world and that elusive word "change" Sound familiar?

A new lot of politicians will roll in and stick their snouts to the public trough and stuff their big fat faces with our national wealth. And when we are sick of them we will replace them with another load thieving a..holes.

And it is because of this cycle of a two party system who really never have any real alternatives to offer us.

The hole we are in the hole today is the hole we all complacently allowed them to dig for us.

Hardluck  Wink

Hard Luck  I really enjoyed your take on copper. Everyone in the construction world knows how expensive it is to buy copper plumbing  and parts and I think we will see $16 to $18. a pound in our life time.  I'm old but, if I live to be a 100 that's only 40 years.
Thanks hardluck great column on copper.

Hello springcitydoc

Thank you for the complement. I am glad you enjoyed it. I hope it has been an insight to a world not many see.

I was once lucky enough to have worked in every part of the process with some of the most unsung hero's that slogged their butts off day after day and in some times very trying conditions.

After many years I have worked a sledgehammer knocking out twyers of furnaces and used jackhammers nearly the size of me. Changed furnace bricks on top reverbertory furnaces with wood cloggs burning under my boots. Drilled blast holes on mine sites above and underground. Rabbled slag of furnaces with wooden rabbles. Oxy lanced tap holes under furnaces worked in environments so hot, safety hats would melt. Some of the most Hot stinking and dangerous Jobs in that industry I have done.

It was a hard and some times thankless industry to be in. But It gave me a great appreciation for things around me today. I see ordinary objects in a different light. Even if my body is all worn out and broken from it I can still appreciate the efforts of those who have worked in that industry.

But most of all it toughened me up to understanding how the world really works. And in the early hours of all those night shifts all covered in crap and sweat inspired me to dream of bigger and better things.

I have moved on to other things and now I am now a CEO of my own company chasing my dreams.

Hardluck.

Thanks GD

Not bad for a kid when he left school could not spell his name and touch his nose with out poking himself in the eye. Wink

I have made more than my fair share of mistakes along the way. It is amazing how life's hard yards can turn into invaluable lessons. If only I had learned those lessons early in life and not at the end of it.

Hardluck
