tabdog;

You sure got that houn dog nose going, this IS interesting

The size was hard to tell, but I have seen the like of the 3 cornered one, before.... cords can be tied, on that, that will not slip off, and I Know it is used in nets.... I bet if you showed that to a South Slavey elder, he would agree, because, until this century, nets made of willow bark were still used, in Great Slave Lake!

The 'perfect' arrow head... I found one, in a field, right next to our house, about 1952, just laying on the surface, but it is made of fine grained black basalt.

danwebster, if you find any flat pieces, shaped like a dressmaker's chalk, it would be innocuous looking but it is a net measure, used to make all the holes the same. Keep an eye out.  Wise

GoldDigger1950 has a point, due to the size it could have been a re-sharpener or substitute for a coyote rib sharpener.

I always thought "old dogs" were supposed to LOOK for new things.... for a hound, a scent is always new, or he can not smell it. Right?  Shocked

Personally, I never believed in that saying... there is a better one: "When you stop learning, is when you are dead!"

Hope the following link might be of some help.  Also PA's DCNR's sites might be a good reference point.
Have met folks here in the Chambersburg area that collect arrowheads with a passion..  Great Hobby.

That is a handy site, but if you read back, in the thread, you may understand, these were not real hunting arrow heads, they were likely votive, a present to the lake Gods or something. Slate is too soft for anything  except maybe a bird head.

Hey! Have you ever driven down a country road and seen the gobs of hay left in the center, some farmers offerings to the road Gods!

I do not believe those heads were ever meant to go on an arrow.
