Side Scan Sonar

Hi 
When i loged on it welcomed me and asked to introduce myself.
Its Michael and what got me intrested in this site is that we are keen scuba divers and once a year we dive in a dam called emarrentia (South Africa, Gauteng) this is part of a kleenup and some very interisting items comes out of these dives e.g. guns, live amo, live grenades, tv, cell phones, but the vis is only 1 feet hence the need to build a Side Scan Sonar (amature) while surging the net it showed that there is diagrams and plans for this
whould like to know where to find it please.
Next time will have some photos of the findings

Well, I guess it is not impossible, but not very easy.
There is no plug and play instruction available.

There were some very interesting informations in a Geotech forum archive... !
Sture once posted some details about his first sidescan sonars there... including a schematic of the towfish electronics.
There was also a discussion with details and pictures about how to build your own transducers. But I think there was no information about how good they actually worked.
Just browse and you might still find it.

But there were no details about the upside electronics.
Looking at the pictures from Stures home page and reading some of his explanations you now what different kind of circuit boards he used. But I did not see any schematics or similar.
So here probably some person with electrotechnical background is needed.

I will see if I find the time to build something similar within the next year(s).
