Same spot as last years but less ans less things are to be found though each year, rocks seem to have moved with the ice movements of the winter/spring and make some "new" stuff work its way to the surface or close to.

Last Saturday was cold and rainy and I only found 2 round lead balls. Sunday was much warmer and besides the usual lot of spent 12 gauge cartridges and a flattened soda can, my older son who's in the military and I came back with a few ounces shy of 40 pounds of artillery shell shrapnells, a nice artillery shell cone (which my son kept so I don't have a picture of it), a good handfull of round lead balls, a conical no ringer one and a nice part of a broken hollow cannon ball which you can see here.

That cannon ball must have been quite heavy by the thickness it had. Strangely enough, 2 years ago, I found other pieces that were much thinner. In fact, I found 3 different thicknesses of hollow cannon balls (pieces).

On the shores of the St-Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada. Near Quebec City. Possibly from this battle:

Thank you nickel_n  Smiley Let's just say that I've been away from many things this last year. Lol

I am planning a trip eastward of Québec and if I'm very lucky, I might just come back with a relic from the same time table as the hollow cannon balls fragments I've found at Ile d'Orléans.

The english came from the East after having captured New Brunswick (Acadie) and burned a lot of villages to the ground up to Montréal (then Ville-Marie IIRC)
So, I'll try  Detecting the Baie St-Paul bay and see if anything good can be found. Or at the very least I'll have my daily exercise! After all, after 50 getting in shape is still important.  Grin

As can be seen, some have heavy walls, while some don't.

Some of my good finds include 9 pounder artillery shells and parts of much bigger ones. I've found some interesting fuses too. Percussion and timer delay (18 seconds with 1/10th sec. increments IIRC). If someone wants to see them, I THINK I uploaded some pictures somewhere else on the forum. If not found, just ask and it will be my pleasure to upload them here.  Great
