back to the pick subject, put a good size magnet on the other end of the shaft. it will save you having to bend over to get that junk iron.

oh and I'm sure the cultivator will provide plenty of good hits   Shocked  Victory  Shame

Yeah I need to find A magnet with a hole in it unless they can be drilled, I have been searching for them, I have one pick made up and it is very strong, I am still going to buy A Geopick as well,

Just use JB Weld.     Ceramic and Neodymium magnets will break if you try to bolt them

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Thanks Homie, How good is that stuff,

I used Gorilla Glue on the Handle and I put A 1" full threaded Wood Screw in the Side once the Glue Had Gone Off, Seems to be on there,

I made it A Very Snug Fit for about an Inch and A Half and then I Gave It A Kiss With the Hammer  for the Last Half an inch and all the excess Glue ouzzed out so I cleaned that Off and then 20 minutes later the Glue had all expanded like that expanding foam so I cleaned that off and let it set for 2 hours and it was fairly hard then I put the screw in it and I have left it to really set hard before I use it, That English Beech Handle is Extremely Hard wood,,

So do you think it will be alright ??

Actually, I just have one magnetically stuck to the bottom of my sand scoop and it has never fallen off once. But I suppose a small amount of glue would keep it from slipping off during some enthusiastic digging and prodding. JB Weld works well but over there I'd suggest you get something from an auto parts store for epoxying metals.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

we have one called Arldite and there are so many copies of those 2 part epoxy's it is hard to know which one to go for, When I use to Build Commercial Air Craft we had 2 types one was REDUX 420 and that was very strong, But you could use heat to remove it and the Other One Was REDUX 460 and that was extremely hard and Durable

You can Machine and rebuild some  Engine parts with JB Weld   You can reteeth light duty Gears with the stuff.  .  Secret is to have cleaned (Acetone)  parts and give it 24 hours cure  before machining.   .  GD is Right.   Just do a Bead where the two meet.  The Less JB the Better but the Magnet will take care of that.  It will Pull it self to the metal leaving a microscopic bead.    Hell if you do it right you wont even see the stuff.

Reading last post, JB is good up to 400C  .  Not so good on the low end 14 C.

Cool Mate Thanks, Even if I cant get it here I will buy it from the US, I want it to stay together, Aye.

Do you think that Gorilla Glue will hold the Handle in place, They Claim it works on wood Brick Iron and Steel etc,??  It seems rock solid, I am going to leave it for a week to cure before I try It.
