Hi ,
I have a question about his earlier career , it is a given that he was with Benjamin Hornigold , before Hornigold went his way in Aug 1716 , La Buse carried on with Samuell Bellamy til 9th jan 1717 , he himself splits from this band , which is where records can get a little slim in picking , but enough to work on.
Had it in my head that they had a good friendship and work relationship, both of similar thought , and i presumed he may of went back in search of his buddy Hornigold.
Hornigold was by then moving in and accepting the Act of Grace , yet he was then given a commission to go back out and hunt down pirate Cpt Vane. Which leads me to ask for opinions on ;
Is it a good possible, that the reason La Buse never really gets sighted or caught (bar 1 lucky escape) was because of his friendship with Hornigold? a bit of inside info , where to not go and go , where to disappear to in hiding , then again he would have had friends via the french inhabitants on various islands , as with the Dutch and the Danes.
Having just resurfaced from the numerous volumes covering those parts of the West Indies ,La Buse was not a major concern to them , but more so on the ones who got commissions via Governor A. Hamilton who then plied it for their own personal gains. Whilst others went under the guarda costa banner. (is this where the imfamous letter of marquis orginates? rather than from France, a mere twist on events to excite the story.)
