hi  I have been stalled on my boards. I had been thinking about what you are talking about for some time about using the old school and feeding the sig to a processor.
I have a guy lined up with fresh eyes  to do the trouble shooting on the boards and get them going hopefully have things going for the up and coming season Wink

I think the sd2000 would be a good solid base and use the microcontroller to handle settings, frequency gen ect.
As far as sig processing go's its a bit process hungry it takes a bit to process and display a khz sig my idea is to have a std analog circuit doing all the sig work then when we get a target hover over and then have an option to analyse the sig via the processor .
My experiments have been done with a stm32f4 168mhz processor and I think this is the best option.

Your  thoughts were exactly along the same lines that I was thinking Wink right down to keeping the circuits very discrete to max out depth and eff, I hav'nt looked into arm boards yet but will check out what you are thinking in terms of arm boards cheers Wink

I have been using a stm32f4 discovery board by st for my experiments . I like it because all we need is the chip a few caps and two pin headders and we have a minimum system with lcd and adc also pwm.  Great then we could just have the chip mounted on the same pcb as the entire md..
Another idea I have been playing with is to include a inductance meter circuit so we could bang any old coil together , plug it in and have the micro auto ajust so the coil would operate with our md circut.. just an idea atm.

Go Up Go Down

Hi I had sent a completed  set of boards to a tech in the spring he was suppose  going to go over it   but....never happened so  here we are in the fall he is suppose to send the boards back but I have not had them returned as of yet so.... I am back to where I was in the spring but hopefully I will get some spare time to go over them  when I get them back and hopefully  have them fired up.  I will post any progress as I have been patiently waiting...

John, can you share CAD's file you used? I would like to remake PCB into SMD and do it more compact. I can offer for exchange files for DP in P-CAD 2006.

TIA
